Guy can't hit a pitch below 90 mph even if that's all he sees.

My prediction is Mason Braun will be your first baseman before midway through the SEC.

Good call. Did I hear correctly that Braun coming in was a top rated first baseman?

If Yorke cant hit SEC pitching maybe Braun gets a look there?

Bet he saw a lot of pitching below 90 the last 3 years in the WAC. Maybe he’s just in a slump.

I’ve only seen him in person in probably the worst slump of his career so this is probably an unfair assessment… but in those games he has genuinely looked like the worst baseball player I have ever seen. The lateral movement of a snail at 1B. When the pitchers try a pickoff it seems like there’s about a 50/50 chance he even catches it. And at the plate it looks like a 40 year old dad 8 beers in at a softball tournament swinging for the fences every time

After you typed that first sentence, you probably should have erased it and closed your laptop. It’s like you have no ability to go to lsusports.net and peruse the stats to see how silly your statement is.

Lemme help you.

Brown is hitting .412
Curiel is hitting .339

.012 separates the next 5 hitters. Milam is currently behind Yorke. Yorke is currently third on the team in OPS at .991
He’s tied for second on the team in HRs at 4. Brown, the freak, leads with 8.

tldr: Brown and Curiel are the two best hitters on the team. The next 5 look like they’re taking a few weeks off.

Oh, and if you had seen him in person as much as I and many on this board have, you’d know that he moves a heck of a lot faster than you would expect.

Not doubting Johnson's coaching ability, but he can only do so much. I think the transfer guys aren't as good as he expected.

Zack Yorke

Set yesterday's loss in motion. Their picture was as wild as a March hare in the ninth inning yesterday. Just take a talk and let Milam or one of the other big boys in the lineup walkoff a frozen rope.

I agree completely. All these guys that have attended their son's little league games question Jay's decisions when they don't even see these guys practice and have no reality of what it takes to develop a college player. The only way to develop a player is to play them, no one gets better on the bench. Some of these guys like Pearson will only develop and get better by seeing playing time.

Zero reason a college athlete should be this out of shape. Shows a tremendous lack of discipline which appears to be his issue at the plate. How did our coaches not get him on some kind of training program in off-season? Hope he figures it out.

You think he lacks discipline at the plate?! Wow, some of you have no idea what you are watching.

Can Braun/Bide/Omar all play first?

Seem like a 1B/Catcher/DH best 3 of 4 situation to me

Braun at first

This isn't a move based on what is best today. I didn't realize it, but as others have said, Braun has little experience at 1B. He may be the first baseman of the future here, but he's probably not ready for that role. Just looking at what is best now....

Braun vs. Yorke
BA - Braun + .009
SLG - Yorke + .149
HR - Yorke +3
OB% - Yorke +.043

With the exception of a tiny difference in batting average, Yorke is literally ahead of Braun in almost every offensive stat.

Yeah, but excuse all that, he needs to sit because joe from denham springs saw him look bad in a crucial at bat yesterday
