If the LSU fanbase was limited only to those who attended, it wouldn’t be the legendary behemoth it is today.

How about LSU Shreveport? If only LSU Baton Rouge graduates were allowed to be fans there would be a lot more empty seats at sporting events. This is just an issue with snobs, anyway.

Arrived from Vietnam, registered for the GI bill. I wanted to work for a year to save money, so i did not have to work during school ( i think we were getting 2 or 3 hundred a month”.

In that year met my wife and was making more than the average Grad

Have been a TAF member, a season ticket holder for years

Forever LSU

Absolutely you are a fan. As an undergrad and grad alum I get to pay all the great contributions and you get to skip them. Brilliant.

Yes. Absolutely. But I am very proud to be an alumnus.

I consider college football fandom tier rankings as follows:
1. Your Alma mater
2. Your Parents Alma Mater
3. Your siblings/Spouses Alma mater
4. Local teams

I guarantee there are more LSU fans who have not gone to college there than the ones who actually attended.
Be the best fan you can be and ignore the elitist-thinking drama queens who spout off all this nonsense. It would be like saying you can't be a fan of our U.S, military if you haven't ever served in uniform. Simply ridiculus!

The NYY and Braves fans in La is hysterical.

A lot of older Braves fans in La aren’t fans because of the fact that they have been one of the top teams in baseball for the last 30 years. Obviously there are some.

I started watching the Braves as a kid in the early 80s because me and my Dad watched games on TBS and I was a Dale Murphy fan. And except for 1982 the Braves were awful, arguably the worst team in baseball for the 2nd half of the 80s.

I remember as a kid most of my friends were Braves or Cubs fans because we could watch them play almost every night on the “Superstations”, TBS and WGN.

Of course you are! If the only fans were students of LSU it wouldn't be many fans. I never went there and have lived outside the state for 60 years. I'm as much a fan as anyone. Where did this idea of being a student only ones that can be a fan of LSU. That is the stupidest idea I ever heard.

I grew up an LSU fan. My dad played on the freshman basketball team in the late 50s. I would wake up early and run get the Sunday paper to see how LSU did during football season.
LSU didn't have my degree so I went elsewhere to college.

I screwed around and went to SLU while many of my family and friends went to LSU. I spent many nights in Tigerland, even sat in on a few classes at LSU. If I would have finished college, I likely would have gotten my bachelor's from LSU, lived in the BR area for 85% of my life. So while I technically may not have been enrolled at LSU, I feel like I can be a fan.

Graduated twice…pissed off they didn’t recruit my son. Not sure who I’ll route for when he plays them.

My father died when I was in HS. I went from living a decent lifestyle with a LSU fund to living poor in East Mississippi overnight with no college fund.

Junior college while working was my only choice.

I’m now a season ticket holder and am a member of a tailgate.

Does that make me any was of a fan?

Same here. Parents grew up in Louisiana but moved out of state after getting married spent most of my life in Mississippi. Grew up a huge Tiger fan, but could not afford out of state tuition.

My parents couldn’t afford for me to go out of state so I joined the military. I did pay Taf, have had season tickets to football baseball and basketball, and paid for my ex wife to finish her degree at LSU. I’m a fan. Probably bigger than most.

I loudly sing the Alma Mater in the stadium because I’m proud to have gone to LSU, but that makes me no more of a Tiger fan than somebody who adopted LSU while watching games on tv from the other side of the country. In fact, we should take immense pride in the fact that we’re a school of which people who were not students choose to be fans. Just don’t start arguing to wear the purple jerseys.

If you are from Louisiana and especially if you grew up in Baton Rouge you are likely to be a Tiger cause damn near everyone else is. I had the good fortune to graduate from LSU back then the tuition was a whopping $300 a semester. My other option at the time was an all-expenses paid trip to the jungles of Vietnam courtesy of my Uncle Sam. Only entrance requirement was a high school diploma.
