Your support 100% counts. Lots of my friends that went to the smaller LA schools or the military are life long Tigers

i grew up an LSU fan.
my grandfather went to LSU until he left for WWII.

i ended up at Nicholls so I could stay living at home and still work on my grandfather’s farm every afternoon and weekend.

I screwed around in high school and couldn’t get in. I was super dyslexic and was intimidated by school work. I was a fanatic of LSU since I was 3 years old. That’s the earliest I can remember. Joined the Army a few years after high school and would drive to games on 2 day weekends from Fort Bragg. Some of the best times in my life were driving and having the anticipation for the game on Saturday! I still made it to 4 or 5 games a year except for the 3 times I was deployed. Got out and gained confidence in school because the experiences I had. Graduated from LSU a few years back! I say all that to say you don’t have to go to the school to be a fan. Our fanbase is a melting pot and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Geaux Tigers!

I live in Louisiana. Went to games as a kid and got hooked on Death Valley. It’s good enough.
They think I’m gonna become a die hard UL fan because I live 10 miles from the school? You wanna talk about leaving at halftime? They are the best at it

This board doesn't seem to be a good representation of real life tbh or even the average tiger fan base. I would not worry about it.

I'm the opposite. No ties to Louisiana but graduated from LSU and I am a dyed in the wool Tiger fan and renounced the SEC school I grew up with.

Nobody can dictate to you who you should or shouldn't root for Do what makes you happy. That said, if I don't have some connection to a school I don't have any vested interest in them. I know guys who are bigger LSU fans than I am. They're always wearing LSU gear, they go to more games than I do, etc. They went to other colleges or no college at all. And I don't get the appeal. It's one thing to have a casual interest, but these guys are rabid.

This guy I used to work with used to say that you couldn’t be a fan unless you went to school there. He pulled for Alabama and Notre Dame, but went to Southeastern.

I graduated with a Masters Degree from Alabama but can’t stand the Alabama football program. In fact, the first game I attended at Bryant Denny stadium was against LSU when I was a graduate student.

Never went to LSU but I grew up in Louisiana and that’s my passion team !!!!

As long as one can endure a lengthy era of ups and downs and still claim that team throughout, he is worthy.

It’s the ones who jump from ship to ship based on how things are going; or the ones who just choose to follow a winning team just because they are winners: those are the unworthy fans.

I kind of wish i had gone to a different school but i was too much of an LSU fan to go anywhere else. I did get to experience a football and baseball championship and a basketball final four as a student which was nice

You can be a fan of whatever you want, that's like saying you cannot be a Saints fan if you didn't play on the team lol

You need to say, “so what, I am not married to your wife, but she still likes having sex with me.” Then they will shut up.

It's normal and I think anyone who wants to be a fan of the program can be and should be.

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I grew up a Tigers fan, wanted to play football but wasn't good enough for LSU. Played at Mississippi State for 2 years as a walk-on, got my Bachelors there and didn't attend LSU until I went for my masters.

I consider myself an LSU fan first and foremost, although I do like wearing my old State jersey when they come to BR. Confuses the hell out of their fans when I call them Tiger Bait.

Yes it's one of the stupidest arguments they make in sports...like who you wanna like. Just be loyal to that team. Being born a certain place or going to school there is stupid. Fan whoever catches your eye

I have been a LSU fan since birth thanks to my dad and his love for LSU. LSU is Louisiana's football team and it doesn't matter if you attended school there.

Not a bit baw. This is Louisiana, we aren’t very college educated and we know it. It’s cool.

However I did go back and get a masters degree from lsu after bombing out of LSU and finishing at ULM.
Something just feels better knowing I finished an LSU degree..
