Jordan Thompson for example had a much stronger arm and more range.

Jordan Thompson could throw it through a house without hitting any windows.

I’m not sure it requires too much though. Between Milam & Braswell one will play SS & one 3B to start.

Jay made an interesting comment in the offseason about Braswell & how long his legs were and was hinting that he had trouble getting on plane with ground balls at SS. Not sure how that is alleviated at 3B but sounded like he was not happy with his play at SS

Agree with your comments. I like him at 2nd, but will not second guess Jay, regardless of how it plays out.

I think MB is fine there. Later in the season he started to figure things out at SS. He also started swinging it better around the same time. Chicken or the egg but funny how that works.

Milam is a very good defender but probably has some limitations on his arm and range.

Couldn’t get past this. But A for effort……

He is limited in range by genetics. He's quick, fairly fast, and fluid, but he's very short and has a small wingspan. That is limited range. Balls will go over his head and past his outstretched glove over the middle more than they would others.

That said, I don't think it'll be a huge deal in college, but he would never be a shortstop in the pros. 2B written all over him.

Also this. We should all have complete faith in Jay to make the right calls.

Exactly. And maybe some motivation for Braswell, what he got was not 3B money.

I definitely wouldnt doubt his range from what we saw last season, and I think we had yet to see his arm ability. But he seemed to be able to make all the throws from behind second base and in the shift.

Had the same inf velo coming out of HS as Bregman did for what its worth. Excited to see if he does get some time at SS.

So many hew faces and options. Would expect Jay to do a lot of early season experimenting, both in the field and batting order.

We will have much to discuss.

True in general. But infield defense has definitely proven to be his weakness as a coach. Clear he doesn’t prioritize it

Ideally you’d like a taller 3B and SS, however, Tyler Hanover was a great tiger at 3B at 5’7”.

Johnson coaches like 90% of MLB coaches. Find a way to get your best 8 hitters on the field

Here are my thoughts:

Jay Johnson has proven he knows what he's doing and I trust him with roster moves

I think Milam will ultimately be fine, but I think Dickinson has better potential and has more range than Milam.

If that were true they’d play Dickinson at SS.

Very interesting… have you come to the realization that Kling shouldn’t be our leadoff hitter yet as well?

I think the issue is 3rd. All 3 guys could adequately play SS/2B. It’s much different at 3rd. From Jay it seems Dickinson is playing 2B, probably boils down to which one can “handle “ 3B.

have you come to the realization yet that LSU had no true leadoff hitter or backup SS that could seemingly take the job from the two players you hated on all year?
