AGREE!!
He seemed to never get more than about a foot and half off ground for about the last 6 - 8 yards!
After the game, Tibow described Hester as a "Wardaddy."

Joe Addai's big performance;
That was an awesome win.
I’ll add in that that game was as much about Randall as it was about Addai, who was awesome as well.
But Randall is a guy that faced a lot of adversity, not all fairly, in his time in BR, and he was absolutely lights out that night after Saban benched him for a clearly not ready JR.
After two JR picks inside our 20 spotted them a 14-0 lead, Randall came off the bench in a game he should have started, picked the team up and outscored then 24-7 for a win every bit as impressive as the 02 win that is remembered so fondly.
That game along with the Bluegrass Miracle and the Arkansas game to end the 04 season are a great legacy of his time in BR.

Hard to beat 1997 and 2007, but I'd give an honorable mention to the 2004 game in Gainsville.
I made my first road trip to Florida in 1998, the year after we knocked them off #1 in Tiger Stadium. By the time Florida week arrived, it was obvious the wheels were coming off the Dinardo train, but my trip was already planned. I've never been so abused by an opposing fan base. The most classless group of trash I've ever seen. I swore I'd never go back.
But then 2004 arrived - Zook was on the hot seat and Florida was ripe for the taking. The fans had been knocked down several pegs. However, despite consistent offensive production during the second half, LSU could not punch it in, and we were trailing 21-17 with about 3:30 to go and LSU was forced to punt.
That's when I saw something I've never seen in football before or since. Even though the circumstances clearly favored Florida - all they had to do was pick up a couple of first downs and run the clock - everyone in the stadium, and I mean EVERYONE - just knew that Zook was going to blow it. Even though LSU was lining up to punt, the LSU fans were literally cheering louder than the Flordia fans. I remember them turning back to look at us cheering our heads off with that doomed look of fear on their face... and we were punting! Sure enough, Zook called the most predictable string of plays, and LSU got the ball back to score the winning touchdown with about a minute to spare. After the game I listened to the Florida call-in show, which was almost as entertaining as the game. The fans opened up on Zook, who was a dead man walking after that. I believe he was fired within a couple of weeks.

quote:I hope they don’t need to run any trick plays. Last time we beat thrm in Tiger stadium as a big favorite we struggled more than we should have and ran that fake field goal. It had Florida fans saying Mighty LSU has to resort to trick plays to be able to beat them.
trick plays
Speaking of, I hope they have been working on some.
We are getting to the part of the season where they may be needed.

Everything about the fake FG, and driving for the winning TD in just 29 seconds, was simply surreal.
If there were a Wikipedia entry called "Comic Book Finishes", the ending of LSU-Florida 2010 would be the main discussion.

This. It almost seems like a forgotten game...I never hear anyone talk about this one. Was watching this earlier today.

Stanford beating USC in one of the biggest upsets in college football history while LSU was going 5/5 on 4th down on a hot, humid night in Tiger Stadium in 2007.

1997 Florida game in Baton Rouge. I was in Tiger Band, and that was the single loudest crowd I have ever heard in Death Valley or any other stadium. Couldn't hear my own horn. I remember the noise at field level when the team first became visible coming out of the tunnel onto the field and the crowd just went to an insane volume level. I felt the vibration of it in the airsacs in my lungs. Crazy! I remember watching my WMHS graduating classmate Tommy Banks score that amazing diving touchdown. Still have the SI issue from the following week with the two-page spread of him on that play. I remember my lips literally bleeding from playing so loudly and so much that game ... it seemed like we played for an hour after the game ended. I had to clean blood out of my trombone the next day. I remember the crowd on the field and the goal posts going toward the top of the stadium. I still have a handful of turf from that night and a little piece of the goalpost foam. I remember getting changed out of my band uniform and cleaned up and then heading over to the Chimes to eat some gator and watch the SportsCenter highlights ... a couple of UF fans walked in, and the whole place started chanting "Tiger bait!!" and they just left. That night is probably my favorite game in Tiger Stadium of all time.

quote:Me too. I went to every game in 1998, the season after I graduated. We went 4-7 as I recall, thanks to Lou Tepper's defense. I think all but one loss was by 7 or less... so ONE extra defensive stop per game would have gotten us an SEC West C'ship.
I made my first road trip to Florida in 1998
quote:Went to that game too, my only other Gainesville (for LSU) trip, and only time I've seen us win there. You have a great write-up here. Also, it was a month before the 2004 presidential election, and Florida being a swing-state, I recall the campus being overrun with political folks pushing Bush or Kerry.
But then 2004 arrived
Did you attend any other LSU games in Gainesville? I haven't. I did work there as a co-op in the Summer of '93 and also went to a Tennessee-UF game there a couple years ago (hail mary to break tie, with 0:00 on clock).

That would be LSU's 21-17 win over Florida in 2005 (Miles first season).
Does anyone remember anything about that game, other than a boatload of turnovers by the Tigers?

This one is from that horrible 1993 game. UF scored the last TD in the North End Zone. After the PAT, a fan caught the ball near the Chute. The UF manager waved his arms to retrieve the ball, but after a few seconds, the guy threw the ball farther up into the North End Zone. Two more throws and a guy had the ball at the top row of Sec. 236. The UF manager is still waving for the ball, but with the crowd cheering, our guy threw it out of the stadium. I don’t know what happened to it after that. I imagine someone found that “trophy”. That was the best “FU” to UF that I remember.
