These jokers are playing a game at Nichols @ 1:30. Then traveling to BR for an 7:00 game at LSU. Then back to Nichols for a game Sunday.

Ok? They are Youngstown State, probably just trying to make the most out of a far and probably expensive trip.

The strangest thing is the game on the same day.

They have 6.5 hours between game times.

Say the game takes 3 hours. It takes an hour and 15 to drive from there to BR so we’ll say 1.5 hours. That leaves you 2 hours to clean up after the first game then be at LSU and prepare for the game. What if they go into extras. What if they hit bad traffic?

It’ll probably be fine but there’s an outside shot it puts LSU in a tough spot.

I think LSU has the advantage because Youngstown will come in having already played earlier in the day.

Extra innings is a potential concern but I’m sure they will have some kind of LEO transport to navigate traffic.

Well LSU has an advantage because it’s Youngstown State and they’re LSU.

The “tough spot” would be LSU getting a game canceled from the schedule or having to play at a really late time.

The schedule is super weird this weekend.

Nicholls and Youngstown play at Nicholls on Friday and Sunday

Youngstown plays at LSU Friday and Saturday

Nicholls plays at LSU Saturday.. then again Tuesday.

Tons of moving parts. Why didn’t they play all these games at the Box like they did with the games last weekend.

Are they playing 7 inning vs Nichols tomorrow? They’ll probably have a LEO escort and will be loose for the evening game. At end of the day, these kids are probably used to playing back to back games since it’s standard in travel ball.

I respect what they’re doing. I also hope the LSU bats show up and slaughters them.

LSU was originally scheduled to play UC-Riverside this weekend in a typical Fri-Sat-Sun three game series. But UC-Riverside canceled about a month ago due to travel concerns about COVID.

Youngstown St was scheduled to play a three game series in Thibodaux vs. Nicholls State this weekend.

So Mainieri was able to get YS and Nicholls St to agree to move some of their games to Alex Box and include LSU in the mix of games. Nicholls wanted to keep at least two home games this weekend.

That’s why it’s a weird schedule for the weekend.

If Youngstown State and Nicholls St. had not agreed to move some of their games to Alex Box LSU would have had an open weekend with no games at all this weekend.

We couldn’t find one other team in all of D1 baseball to come play at LSU?

Since schedules were already set a month ago getting another team to come to Alex Box for a three game series would have involved the substitute team breaking a schedule commitment with someone else.

As it is Nicholls still gets two home games this weekend (Friday & Sunday) vs. Youngstown State and nobody is left breaking their schedule contract.

This was all reported by the media 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Is something similar happening in two weeks with the UTSA - Baylor - UTSA series?

I think this is just a year of weird scheduling for obvious reasons.

I’m not sure exactly what happened there.

LSU baseball added Baylor to its 2021 schedule, coach Paul Mainieri announced Friday, replacing one of the games in a series against UTSA.

The weekend of March 12, LSU will now host UTSA on Friday night and Sunday afternoon. It will play Baylor at 6:30 p.m. Saturday inside Alex Box Stadium.

Travel ball kids can do it so Youngstown State will be fine. They may even have enough time to see a camel. A camel that had its testecles bitten by a Florida woman. Who could pass up that opportunity?

The game is actually at 12:30 in Thibodaux. WAFB segment last night said they practiced at The Box last night. They travel to Thibodaux today. After today's Nicholls game, they'll have a police escort back to BR. After tomorrow's LSU game, they head back to Thibodaux where they'll spend the night before the Sunday game vs. Nicholls.
