when people think of O, of course we remember 15-0. But that's just one data point - we also remember the rest -- which was a massive implosion of the football program in the two years immediately after 15-0.
You can't just cherry-pick the good, and ignore the bad.
I mean, when you think of Gene Chizik, what do people remember? Same as O -- a magical year with a generational QB, and then quick and complete failure.
To be fair, prior to O losing his mind post 2019 his record at LSU was 40-9 with a 5-1 post season record.

Jimbo. He's a has been.
He pretty much is. His offense is straight out of the 1990's. By all accounts, he has underachieved at A&M, and not to mention he left FSU gutted.
We certainly dodged a bullet by missing on "Jimbo."

That's a statement that a loser would make. The man gave us the BEST season in college football history. He loves LSU. He just let his pecker think for him. Was it time for him to go? Absolutely. But to call him a deadbeat loser? You need to take a hard look in the mirror my friend. Is he going through a mid life crisis ..yes. Did he mail it in after the championship season ...yes. Did he make terrible coaching hires and decisions...yes.But give the man his do.

we means LSU fans right?
My point is the fans who claim he brought national embarrassment on the program are being overly dramatic...they don't care and I can assure you what they remember more about LSU and Orgeron is we went 15-0 and won the national title.

hired Bo fricking Pelini without a fricking interview
I could not believe this was true when I first heard it.

That always told me that someone else hired Pelini. Someone called him and spoke to him to convince him to come down. If O did not interview him, who spoke to him....I can assure you that it was not like " Hi Bo, Ed Orgeron here.....want your old job back? If so, come on down, we'll work out the numbers later."
Woodward had to approve the contract and the hire ultimately.
I am not sure I blame either one for that. We had just finished the greatest season in college football, which means it was almost Spring when our DC and nearly the entire defensive staff moved on to new jobs. Most anyone decent was already hired and we needed someone for the next season, even if we knew it would be subpar. Sorta like we hired Steele before Aranda.
Then of course COVID hit and Pelini was left with a short Fall camp to set up a defense. Then the best player on defense got sick the night before the first game.
I stand by the fact that the team rallied in 2020 and finishing 500 in an ALL SEC schedule is a damn good coaching job that year.

Voicing criticism isn’t the equivalent of ‘not caring.’
If it’s anything, it’s the exact opposite. If the “overly dramatic” fans said nothing, that would show they didn’t care.
As another poster already pointed out, you can’t take all the good things and disregard the bad ones. If you’re being honest and fair at least.
Dress it up however you want but the two subsequent years following the national championship were horrific.
It’s done now, he’s gone.
Greener pastures ahead.

to LSU fans...cfb fans outside of LSU don't care. Claiming O is a national embarrassment after going 15-0 is being over dramatic...how many teams have won 1 national title this century that's fans wouldn't trade anything that O did here for what they have done?

We wore out in 2019 against Texas. Their QB looked like an all star.
MSU made us look slow and dead on our feet’s in 2020. Wd made their QB a record setter.
UCLA made us look bad and we made them look like a PAC 12 contender.
This is soooooo true... Go back and look at those games. We were burnt out physically and the season had just started.

We stayed at the team hotel and one reason they were tired is that they stayed up all night and rode scooters all over downtown LA. Not to mention every time we ended up on an elevator with any of the players, they reeked of pot. O was a clown; sorry is a clown and the program took a nose dive when Aranda left.

It’s OVER!! Time to move on. How long you people hold a grudge?

Perhaps but I didn’t say he was. I said the following two seasons were horrible.
I’m simply saying that if you focus only on the 15-0 run and nothing that happened in the following two years, you aren’t being honest, fair or realistic.
I also said he’s gone and let’s move on. I’m not here today bash the guy.
Looking forward to this season.

Some of you act like O personally insulted you.
I don't get into bashing coaches but I will answer your question. It was insulting to the entire fanbase, school, players and their families to kickoff the season at UCLA and for the team to be so under prepared. It was the most embarrassing game that I can remember since the LSU-Tenn debacle.

As the year went on, he started to become more and more aloof at coaches shows, until they pulled the plug on him (but let him stay, ffs) and then there was about 2 tons off of his shoulders. Totally different guy all the sudden
