A lot of people in here need to learn how to count days of rest. You don’t include either day he throws. Saturday to the next Friday would be 5 days of rest.

That would be the only reason to pitch one of them Friday.

LSU has pitched off in the 1/4 game every single time except for 2001 and 2023 and LSU has never lost a 1/4 game since this format started in 1999. It’s standard operating procedure for LSU to pitch off. Starting Skenes against Tulane was an asinine move that luckily didn’t hurt them.

Do you realize LSU pitched Austin Ross against Southern in 2009 and closed the game out with a position player throwing the 9th?

I didn’t realize Jay coached LSU in 2009. Take another L princess

The Thursday was a reference to the regular season series

So keep them on schedule but also use them twice in a weekend if needed?

You only pull them if you have a big lead and you only use them again if you drop a game end up in the loser’s bracket.

But OP’s assertion about Anderson being unavailable for next Friday if he starts this Saturday is just dumb.

He would definitely be available. It’s just that his 3 starts on 6 day’s rest are at least somewhat below his typical level.

I have no dog in this fight, but you pull the pitcher early with a comfortable lead and have him ready for some innings only if it's necessary in an elimination game. At that point you'd have to use him again, but you would hope it didn't come to that. It would just be nice insurance.

I am not saying that is the right move. I really don't know the correct move. I would like to see LSU win game one without using either of their top 2 arms, but I won't be upset if they pitch one.

Here is why it makes sense to go with our aces in the first two games. It is a question of odds. What are the odds of dropping game one to UALR if we hold our aces? Compare that to what are the odds of losing two games to a DBU team that will have already played three games to our two?

There are some other scenarios that affect the overall odds on the decision, but these two dominate the decision. And the odds of losing game one are higher.

The time to shuffle aces in a regional is when you have a distinct difference between ace 1 and ace 2. Then it might make sense to hold ace 1 for the tougher second game against the two seed. Our two are about equal.

Correct you do everything you need to do to advance which is maybe just maybe throw Anderson twice if necessary. Anderson throws 40 pitches Friday and comes out sure he can throw an inning or two Monday. Will Jay go that route we dont know. But to keep saying we have to keep everyone on schedule for the Super is absolutely retarded.

I'm good either way. But yea it would be nice to beat LR with someone other than KA or Eyanson. And i think this is probably the year that you could do that. But if KA or Eyanson throws Game 1 then i'm good with that also.
