You guys sound like Alabama with all this “preserve the rivalries” nonsense.

I like playing Florida, Alabama and Auburn every year

It’s going to suck on years when they get replaced with Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Mizzou

Rivalries and tradition are what set college football apart and make it special.

I like visiting Kentucky, a beautiful road trip, more than once every 13 years. Gainesville if fricking terrible.

It’s all give and take, give me more rotation

How did you convince yourself that these changes are going to result in more rings?

We’re getting the opportunity to visit every SEC stadium over four years instead of 16. Get over it.

I don’t.

It’s ridiculous and unnecessary.

I’d rather play them when it matters- in January.

With the exception of last year, that’s likely three dominant wins right there. And there’s still enough competition on the rest of the schedule to provide high profile playoff type games.

Nothing at all sucks about having to play teams you’re likely gonna boat race with the way the conference will look in four years. Take the easy W.

College football is built on tradition. I like playing those teams every year.

I hate this attitude. Those games are so much more fun on campus. The neutral site/playoff games are so sterile compared to the on campus games.

ETA: this whole thing has made me realize how many LSU fans want to run from our hardest games.

So we wanna keep the tradition and our historic rivalries that have been around for generations. What’s wrong with that? Also makes the season a hell of alot more fun and exciting. You do realize in order to get rings you’ll have to play teams like bama at some point, right? Your not gonna get rings just for beating ole miss and miss st. Wanting to get rid of those games simply because it makes the schedule easier is such a pussy mentality.

ETA: we’ve done a pretty good job getting rings while still playing those games. Outside of bama nobody else has had the success we’ve had.

I agree. It’s pathetic.

I disagree completely. At it's core, for the fans, college football is NOTHING but entertainment. Entertainment that only lasts 3 months during the year. And it is not very entertaining to watch a team beat the hell out of an inferior team. Is there any palpable excitement among the fans the week(s) LSU plays teams like Vanderbilt, or UK, or any of the terrible non-conf. opponents? Of course not. And there is no excitement in the stadium either. That excitement comes from playing great...and hated...opponents.

Now, I'm not saying LSU should be forced to keep Alabama, Auburn, Florida, while adding OU and Texas every year. But I would love to see the Alabama and Florida matchups stay on the schedule. Those are the games and weeks you circle on the calendar as a fan. Those are the games I think about when I think of LSU football. Not some 30 pt victory over Miss. St.

LSU should not be in a pod with the Big 12 rejects.

Texas
Texas A&M
Missouri
Oklahoma

This should be a pod.

When it’s YOUR team, hell yes it is. And like I said there are still PLENTY of tough games left. You’ll be starving for an easy W the way the conference is shaping up. No one wants to watch blowouts every weak, but a break from all the stress of big games is more than welcome from time to time.

You’re not sick of them beating our arse and ruining our season every year? And even if we beat them, with playoff expansion they’ll still make it. You really want to likely play them twice if we have a great season?

How does playing worse schools give us the opportunity of more rings? We would still lose in the playoffs. Look at OU or hell even Georgia. Again this the SEC especially the SEC West. it cheapens the conference and division. The reason we shite on all the other conferences and divisions is because we consistently play top 15 schools.

We won’t win more rings with this and we’ll have less eventful games. The atmosphere in Baton Rouge will still be great, but for Florida, Alabama, and Auburn the atmosphere is on a different world. You won’t get that playing Mizzou, Kentucky, OU, Tennessee or Texas honestly.

The great part of the tradition in the SEC West has become just the down right hatred for each other, but such similar culture. It’s what makes SEC and college football so much fun. Ofcourse im going to continue to watch the tigers, but you’re lying if you tell me Death Valley at night vs bama, aub, Florida will be anywhere close to the same as those other schools besides Georgia.
