That’s it, start making personal attacks because you can’t defend your point other than to make hypocritical arguments and use double standards.

The problem is that isn't true. The percentages say to go for it on 4th once you pass the 50, but once you get in the red zone it's a far higher percentage of getting points with the field goal than going for a touchdown after you've been stopped 3 downs in a row.

6 would be great, but after a long drive it's deflating to come away with nothing
Especially the first drive of the season when you can force a good team to play from behind early.

I defended my point.
your counter was “sure buddy”
At that point I feel fine throwing insults at you because you’re as smart as a tuber.

You defended it by disqualifying my argument then using the exact same logic for yours.

But once you get deeper in the red zone, the percentages suggest going for it
I still would have kicked it

I still would have kicked it

The percentages don't reflect that

Always take the points on the first drive or it will come back to haunt you

Wow, didn't realize that. Yeah, like you said I would still take the points.

Your argument is that he chose a riskier move because he doesn’t believe in his team. Because we both agree it’s easier to kick a short FG than go for it on 4th.
if you don’t believe in your team, why would you believe they can execute a 4th and 3? Why wouldn’t you take the guarantee which requires no faith.
Further, there is a lot of football logic to playing the field position game. Failure on the 3 puts them in bad field position when they get the ball.

Well, there wasn’t a question there.
I know you’ve stated your opinion.
you just have big leap in logic that ignores the inherent risk in going for it and the football logic that supports going for it regardless of Kelly’s feeling about the defense in that situation.

What? It’s a big risk to go for it yet all the logic says to do it? Think about what you’re saying.

which is more guaranteed.
A 10 yards FG
3 yards on 4th
The analytics say that if you are in this position enough the reward compensated the risk.
But it’s like shooting 3 pointers.
The analytics say you can shoot 3s at a lower success rate and score more because they’re worth more.
But that only holds true if you can shoot 3s at a certain success rate
If Kelly didn’t believe our team could convert 3 yards at a consistent rate all the analytics go out the window.
Posted on 9/6/24 at 1:34 pm to SammyTiger
The 3 points obviously and the analytics do not account for the downside or the situation.

The Analytics take field position into account and the other teams likelihood of scoring if you’re attempt fails.

Hes always been stupid aggressive in our openers. At least this time I wasn't screaming at the screen when he was going for 4th down early on. I wanna say we were about midfield w 7 to go and Kelly went for it in the 1st. This time I told my son that we won't convert my I suppose I'm ok with going for it. It's getting better, but I knew right away that we were not about to convert and should have kicked the 3. As for the defer or not, ill leave that to the better studied. With the rule change, idk what the right call is. Before that though? You defer. Have an idea of what you need to get done going into the second half instead of risking and deflating your team out the gate.

it was 4th and 2 on their 39.
