He was trying to curl around to the right….hes done it so many times in the past and succeeded……he underestimated the speed of the Bama rusher and the total ineptness of his ot…..

I think this is a replay from some earlier games. But then I saw the Bama uniforms.

Don't think I've ever seen a player regress as much as Nuss. I know there's reports he was lazy in the offseason and this OL is so bad nobody is setup for success behind it, but man. He threw for 4000 yards last year, had confidence throwing even into bonehead mistakes, and actually had the best avoid sack ratio in the country.

He did this against SEC teams too. They had a 3 game skid after the TAMU meltdown then he dominated again against a good Oklahoma defense. Everything about him is the opposite this year. He can't avoid sacks, he has no confidence throwing, etc. It's all mental for him and he probably ruined his career coming back to LSU.

I'd be even more pissed if I was the boosters who sported likely going to be his highest payday in his life. I do still feel bad for him because I think it was mostly on BK's shoulders. The fact he even thought this OL had SEC quality on it when it's decades bad OL for LSU is a travesty. He should be sued for negligence ruining careers. You had all that money and thought this line was good enough to win? And no, it's not on Thomas if anyone asks. BK makes the decision on the players he wants.

#1 sign of greatness at qb, are the ones who move FORWARD in the pocket, especially when collapsing.
2 things can happen. You get sacked, but minimize the loss. Or you break thru, and all options open wide, and its a positive gain.
Nuss is J Lee. Scared as frick and retreat is always first step...then comes the back foot throws.

Have you ever played offensive line or coached it? You know he is taught to ride his player up and out of the play. Curne needed to do a better job of it no doubt. If Nuss just steps up he is fine. You never as a QB keep drifting backwards.

He doesn't. You can put any great NCAA QB behind this OL and while they might be better than Nuss current production, everyone here would still be calling for their starting job. Nobody is setup for success with how bad this line is. Nobody. You could stick Tom Brady in his prime behind this line and he'd look average at best.

4 offensive linemen were blocking 2 Bama dl-men……and you call that good……all we needed was curne to provide some resistance

The oline did not collapse, gave pressure yes but all had to was show moxie and step up in the pocket. He’s afraid to get hit and not every pocket will be perfect. Ty Simpson is good at stepping up in the pocket.

maybe 57 had done something other than push his player into Nuss.

Actually, 57 pushed the DE to the outside, which was OK after getting pushed back at the start.

The Pocket was actually very good on that play. Only a QB like Nuss would run into a DE 15 yards from the Line of scrimmage.

You really don’t understand offensive line play or technique do you? Curne needs to do a better job I agree, but Nuss gave him no help. Nuss steps up 1 or 2 steps and he is fine. He goes backwards incorrectly though. If he steps up he can throw the dump off to #8 no problem or go left and have a huge amount of time to find a receiver.

The full on sprint backwards is what is most disturbing. It looked like when you are playing football with your 2 yr old and you hand him the ball and he runs the opposite way.

WTF was that

Curne is playing like a NFL OT

The problem is the NFL qb has adjusted to the pocket.

Ours has his back to the WRs running away

How did he not see that - he could have just lobbed it to him and he makes it to the 10 yd line before any possible contact. =. right in front of his face = instead he goes into reverse for a 15 yd loss.

That was one of the worst bonehead sacks I've ever seen

It's the total lack of awareness by Nussmeier that is damning. We've seen that type of rush a lot by LSU... the DE overruns the play and leaves open lanes. Ole Miss killed us with that. Now granted, Nuss isn't nearly as quick as the Ole Miss QB, but he simply could have stopped and had a second to throw. If he steps up and to the left, he has all day, or could run (we know he can't run, but still).

Curne didn't lead his guy into Nuss, unless he knew Nuss would spin and drop to punter's depth.

He was looking left and had 3 receivers that were all blanketed. The entire clip is only 6 seconds, so he wouldn't have had several seconds. If Curne does anything that resembles a block, then Nuss probably hits Johnson out of the backfield.

I guess that's Curne was benched and not Nuss after that series?
