Why did you intentionally leave out the specific $53.8M buyout?

Because by many accounts, the object of the meeting was to discuss how to reduce it.

Dollar-weight his successes and failures and it's obvious that he should be so severely handcuffed should he stay that he may as well leave. frick that guy.

And Kellys agent was having none of that. Thats why Landry called him out
quote:

“Right now, we've got a $53 million liability,” he continued. "We are not doing that again.”

quote:

"I hosted a meeting at the governor’s mansion to talk about the legalities, to talk about the cost, to talk about who pays for it,” Landry said

No money has been secured to pay. No agreement has been struck to lower the cost

As it stands right now, per the contract, LSU is on the hook for $800,000 per month, until Brian Kelly is 71 years old

Ask him who the "money people" are.

.....and what's this I hear about Woodward and Carville being big buddies?

Any truth to that?

SW and Carville are indeed friends. When SW was hired Carville hosted a party for him in Carville's home in NO. Gov. Edwards was not invited and did try to crash the party. Like Edwards, Landry is part of a Louisiana good ole boy's network. SW and Carville are part of a BIG BOY'S good ole boy network that goes beyond the state borders. And this network includes multi-billionaires. Landry is out of his league.

The only reason you don’t fire him is because if we do we owe him 6.8 million to do so. Not worth it for an AD

Thanks for the clarification, James.

Then there was the melt over Govenor Landry's proposal to put a Charlie Kirk statue on the grounds of LSU. That sure flushed out the anti-Trump / Kirk lunatics.

Anytime your hear the name James Carville associated with anyone at LSU you know nothing good will come out of that.

I'll say it........LSU needs an enema, starting with the School of Political Science.

Govenor Landry......do your duty.

LSU competes in a world that goes far beyond the state lines. A world where we have gained stature and relevance like never seen before, over the past ten years or so. We do not need old school Louisiana politics pulling us back. This applies to both academics and athletics. Face it, LSU is the best thing in the state when viewed from outside the state lines. It needs to be free from state politics completely.

You know one hell of a lot more about it than anyone not immediately associated with the discussions does. So perhaps you have inside knowledge? If so, kudos.

Then again, as you admit ...
"No money has been secured to pay."
"No agreement has been struck to lower the cost."
In that environment, I'd bet the house LSU will pay less than $53M.

My guess, based on rumors, is the number will be FAR less.
It likely will never be publicly released.

The settlement though could be free and clear of Kelly's future employment income sources. i.e., $27M up-front, with no mitigation could be a win-win for Kelly and LSU.

Exactly.

The most ignorant thing is acting like Woodward should have SOMEHOW known that BK wouldn’t do better.
And the contract was standard for the hire and approved by a lot more people than just Woodward. So hang them too.

Garbage spewed by stupid people.

I'd want to know who his replacement is first.

If they hire another good ad then I have no problem firing Scott Woodward.

Mightve been different if he didn't can wade, hire mcmahon, and then gave kelly a crazy contract.

No one would even want Woodward fired if he gave kelly a 6 yr 60 mil contract.

Good points.

I’m fine with Woodward having more eyes on him and limitations. Definitely don’t want him with free reign like prior, but I think completely firing him would be a massive mistake

Why do you want an ad that needs eyes on him?

This is where you are 180 deg wrong. Woodward is a fundraiser. His talent is to suck money out of boosters and supporters of the university. He doubled the money coming into aTm from private donors in his tenure there. I am not sure what he has done here but he raised the money to get Kelly, Mulkey, and Johnson here and more importantly he got the money to fire Kelly. Somehow the money people love him even though he always has his hand out.
