I am surprised at the speculative nature of the "news story" being the lead in the sports page. If we can be objective, we can see that the special teams have been terrible and the defensive backfield play has been poor. Defensive backs look like they did in 2008, with at least one major breakdown each game. We have a first year starter at quarterback, a mediocre defensive line, and no depth at other key spots. But the errors on special teams and the defensive backfield are not excusable. Fire those coaches. Firing the head coach in these circumstances would be foolish. It doesn't matter if we don't like his style of offense. The Advocate is looking to generate noise and doesn't are if there is any basis in fact to the speculation.

it won't be 6-6 though. it'll be:

9-3
8-4
8-4
9-3
10-2
8-4

or something to that effect. not great. just good enough to get a decent bowl game each year and send kids to the NFL.

I'd like to see them go after Dabo first then maybe Kiffen. Two young coaches getting better and better.

Even at 7-4 if that's the case, that isn't a "laughing stock". Quit being dramatic.

You act like lsu is a dumpster fire with a losing record.

The problem is LSU is one of the nation's top programs right now we should be competing with the best of the best. If we finish this season 0-5 or 1-4 Miles should be gone. For how great we looked to start the season to simply fall apart and go from 7-0 to 7-5 or 8-4 is horrible. If Miles finishes 9-3 I say keep him around but his seat better be really hot. It should be playoff or bust next year for Miles, if he doesn't make the playoff encourage him to retire or fire him.

I've always been pro Les Miles, but we are not where we need to be as a program.

another thing look at this schedule if we do lose out are 7 wins came against mostly cupcakes and Florida

MSU
South Carolina
Auburn
Eastern Michigan
Syracuse
Western Kentucky

All these teams suck, so 6 wins this year were almost guaranteed, and if we lose out, we won 1 game out of 6 games that posed a challenge to us. Even in our bad years we never did this.

I didn't think it before but now that it is coming from someone who has sources, I can believe it now.

Miles is playing for his job right now.

I'll give him Misssissippi State as a good win, they're pretty good. But even that was ugly and almost fluky. 3 more yards at the end of the game and state may well have won.

Yeah LSU never looked great this year. The running game looked great and that's it. The wins were over bad teams and some of the wins weren't very impressive. Luckily Florida lost its starting QB, but then the schedule got tougher and LSU was exposed. LSU has not improved over the season. I don't know how the team can be so thin depth wise on defense, can never find good LBs, can never develop a QB. What are those recruiting rankings for? Is it simply Bc LSU player bolt to NFL as soon as they can? Why?

And thats your expectation each year? Win 10 games once every 6 years and go to a decent bowl?

No championships?

hearing evidence that he may go if he bombs brought new light to the subject for me. (Scott Rabalais may be speculating but he does have connections.)

Personally I don't think he gets fired after this year, we find a way to win the next two games, and we may or may not win the bowl game.

I've always said that next year is Miles make it or break it year.

Only if he finishes 1-4 or 0-5 will I think he goes this year.

Personally I've never been a fire miles guy, and I'm still not but the way we responded against Arkansas has me thinking again.

I see one more year. Especially with the way all of the assistants' contracts are lined up til next year.

Might be a clearing house next year.

Honestly, I know I'll be judged as a negatiger, but I'd rather the clear out at least for HC, OC, possibly DC than Les make the playoffs even win it all.

I just hate not competing for 4-5 years with an occasional dominant team. We recruit just as well as Alabama these days and have nothing to show for it, and yet they are constantly in mix at the end and we are squandering just to get a Dec. 31-Jan. 1 bowl game.

This is untrue except for the class currently being assembled. Nobody has recruited like them over the last 5 years.

You dont wait until its too late.
I think that is the point many here are trying to make for sure.

I would add if you're not moving forward (or up) you're going backwards (or down). There is no middle ground.

It's about trajectory and ceilings. I don't think anyone can argue that the trajectory has been up over X number of years. At the same time, I don't think anyone can say with certainty that we have hit the ceiling. But, the chances of reaching that ceiling (IF haven't already) are really low with the trajectory.

FYI, Rabalais is currently on 104.5....says even if miles goes 1-1 in last two games, he's in trouble.

Said if he loses both, he's gone for sure.

If he wins both, he stays.

Even though I love LSU, I hope we lose out to force a change. LES MILES WON'T CHANGE, MAYBE LSU WILL.

Welp, Scott getting his clicks. Around the Horn talking about this article now.

All four panelists saying it's stupid basically, especially considering the buyout.

If true he really is clawing to keep his job. Sounds like they don't gaf about the buyout anymore, and are at the end of the line.

HATE it that this season is ending like this. I was enjoying it too damn much.
