I'd be shocked if Les didn't get at least one more year, if nothing else than to lower the buyout to $9M. Unless Les has had enough.

He said LSU would go 8-4.

8-4 implies regular season record.

Miles has only lost 4 games in the regular season twice.

I didnt get the implied part from the other poster, and you never said regular season.

Sorry I included bowl games. I will not count those games anymore. Thanks.

Article reads like a PR trial balloon you see in politics. Put it out there and gauge the reaction

Yikes. Scott Rabalais reporting Les is coaching for his job next 2 weeks by ellessuuuu
Yeah have you noticed the further away we get from 2004, the 'Les' Competitive we are in the conference and nationally. You can try as hard as you want to ignore that fact, but the first 3 years post-Saban were Miles' best three year period. 2011 was his team, but an outlier from the trend since 2007. Even in that year, Saban handed Miles his arse.

Those 2005-2007 teams were built for greatness. Saban had the program geared for the kind of run he's having now at Bama. The defenses were big and strong and he had fantastic offensive talent. Those teams, esp 2005-2006 resembled a Saban team.

2011 was simply the happy year that tremendous explosive defensive talent came together at the same time, led by Mathieu. That level of defense wasn't going to stick around long.

Miles has tons of money. He doesn't care about amortization of a 12M buyout. Neither does LSU. He doesn't want to go out second place winner though. I can tell you that. He just doesn't know how to get it done at this point.

Wrong. 2001 He lost 5 in a row at Oklahoma St.

Dude. Do you have any idea how bad OSU was before he got there? They barely won with one of the greatest backfields in football history. This has no bearing on the present, but still, apply some context. The fact that he beat OU with that same team and killed their title shot was pretty impressive.

They went 10-2 in 1987 and 1988 while Barry Sanders was at Oklahoma St. and finished 11th in the polls both seasons. Im not sure how that qualifies as "barely winning" .

As to your context comment...I agree, and thats EXACTLY what I meant to do. dgnx continuously disregards the same thing for Saban when he first gets to LSU.

Its the same debate in every thread. LSU fans want to compare TCU to LSU and Miss. St. to LSU as if all programs are the same and equal. Its obviously not even close. I stopped trying to explain.

If that does happen, he will be under a lot of pressure to perform at a VERY high level in 2016 (SEC WEST Champs type pressure)

So basically Les will be gone next year because he is not beating Bama and he can't win the west without that.

where do you come up with this?
no lester, i meant that it's completey irrational to think 2 weeks of football are going to decide whether LSU's most winningest head coach will get the boot or not. It's dumb.

Our fans really and truly are batshit insane.

I'm pissed at Les too, but from a fiscal and timing standpoint this topic is dumb.

The only scenario I'm on board with this is if we know for a fact Jimbo would take the LSU job.

i mean, i get it...the timing of it all isn't convenient one bit, but i think we both know it's not going away anytime soon and is actually going to get louder and louder with each loss.

Yeah, I've never seen it quite like this. It really does feel like at least half the fan base has reached the point of no return.

I'm not dusting off any pitchfork until this season plays out and we find out who's coming back on the staff.

All I can tell you is this. I've been a Miles apologist for a long time. But that loss to Arkansas took it all out of me. I get losing to Alabama. We've been close enough to win those a few times. But two in a row to Arkansas?

tDecline is real and it's now time to consider our options. There's too many teams looking for coaches right now though. And dumping Miles while Fournette has another year doesn't seem smart, but neither does keeping him at this point.

So there you go. If they do it this year, you won't hear me cry unless they hire somebody that's not a knockout blow to the West and damned if I know who that would be.

Ideally, I hope we can get an agreement on an exit strategy after 2016 if Les is done where both sides can save face. Begin back-channeling for coaches early next year to get a leg up on other schools on a home run hire like the Ohio St scenario with Urban.

There are 10-12 job openings currently, not to mention UGA likely in the market. Its a horrible year to go looking for a head coach.

I agree. I just hate the idea of watching another season play out like this.

I don't know if that's accurate, but that Arky arse whipping felt like a game changer. Even posiTigers are rustled.
