re: Yeskie: Building a Pitching Staff

First I've heard of this. I'm sure pitchers get frustrated with pitch calls from time to time. I doubt Yeskie would be a significant factor in whether Herring leaves or not, but I could be wrong.

We did give up a ton of 2 strike hits, but that’s not all on pitch call. Pitch execution has to be there

So we sue college players for breach of contract if they leave?
They want to be professionals. Professionals work under contracts.

Herring was throwing a fit on the mound about it & Guidry’s dad said many of the pitchers do no like it
Herring was definitely pissed that inning about it. But Jay's not shy. He's not gonna stand over there and let Yeskie call fastball after fastball (or slider after slider) in counts he disagrees with over and over. I don't think he'd have much of a problem walking over and asking, "Hey Nate, what the frick are we doing here?" He may disagree with a pitch call here or there, but he's such a micromanager, I've got to think he's involved in the game plan and signs off on pitch sequences in certain matchups well before they even happen.
Now, he might not notice some nuance in the moment which may change the way Yeskie wants to go after a guy if he sees something they weren't expecting. Either from the hitter or how the ball might be coming out the pitcher's hand. I'm not sure I've actually noticed how much they interact when we're on the field. Jay seems to kinda isolate himself on the corner steps and just watch everything and not really interact too much with anybody. But he certainly wouldn't be scared to if he thought he should. This just seems like something that was overblown due to the camera catching Herring's fit. I can't imagine all the players not liking how he calls pitches and Jay just being cool with it. Unless they're on the same page.

Yeskie saw Herring’s frustration and went to the mound immediately. It looked like they were having a normal conversation on the mound.

It’s Gavin Guidry’s dad

Considering the pattern of who is held over year to year, I don’t think they do much processing. Guys leave on their own to get playing time.
The pitching staff in particular was losing enough guys through the draft & graduation to where they did not have to force anyone out

Losing Moffit was no loss. He may improve, but didn’t show much last year.

Who needs a guy that throws 99 when you can poach Atlanta Wesleyan’s ace
Posted on 7/1/24 at 7:13 pm to Lester Earl
I don’t think we told anyone to leave but made it clear to some of them their innings would be limited at best and they read between the lines.

What if Atlanta Wesleyan’s ace throws 97 but can keep it in the strike zone?

Man I know Jay likes Yeskie but if the entire staff thinks he sucks and A&M clearly thought he sucked maybe the guy has lost it. I know Jay doesn’t want to keep having to get a new pitching coach every year but maybe we should move on from yeskie
