re: Year 2 is not too soon to expect results

I'm anxious to see how Orgeron handles in-game adversity; and that can be displayed this year... can be displayed immediately.
You know, you get about a quarter in, and as a fan you say "oh shite, we're in trouble".
The only time that happened, and we still won, was Auburn. They had us on the ropes, we adjusted and won. But that actually relied on Canada- after the defense tightened up, Canada found something (the jet sweep) that Auburn couldn't adjust to.
The other games, we stuck with the gameplan, and were able to ride out... or got beat. We never put a scare into Alabama, we never turned it around against Miss St. We never pulled away from Fla, etc. We didn't put Notr Dame away when we had the chances.
I think O can run a pre-game, and he, Aranda and Ensminger can come up with a solid plan. We don't know that O can take control when that blows up in our faces, and adjust on the fly.
We need to see if he can.

I guarantee if we go 8-4, there will be people on this board calling it a good season.
You're making shite up now to stir the pot. Literally know one is saying this.

“No one...” but to the point, I’ve already seen posts claiming “8-4 would be a success considering this schedule.”

No way man. He will have just stayed out of his own way enough to blindly luck into success while riding the coattails of Aranda’s defense and a grad transfer QB. Will be along the lines of what they say if we end up with a 10 or 11 win season.
Probably something along the lines of "it's only year two, still too early to say for sure, let's see what he does when Les's players are gone."

And no shite no one is saying it. It's a hypothetical. The season hasn't started yet. He's saying IF we got 8-4 there will be people saying it was a good season.

This is what I said.
In other words, if it's an excuse for LSU last year, why can't the same logic be applied to the upcoming year?
I personally don't believe that is a factor, but it absolutely was an excuse last year.

The first year head coach thing was a big excuse around here last year, so those should all be easy games.

Harbaugh is going into year 4 and they are projecting his record at like 9-3 and last year finished 8-4 and his record against Ohio St. is 1-5.

Name the last time we played a schedule that was this tough. We are looking at 3-4 pre-season Top 10 teams, 2 being Top 5.
2014 was tougher than this year.
Easily.
Four West opponents were top 5 at one point in the season, three being ranked #1 for multiple weeks.
Plus that Wisconsin team was AT LEAST as good as this Miami team.

No..no it most certainly would not.
I'm with y'all on the no more excuses part.

sorry juggling a few things here. I'm trying to figure which posters would make this claim...other than pensacola?

Season ending rankings from that year of teams we played (Coaches):
4. Alabama
12. Mississippi State
13. Wisconsin
19. Ole Miss
23. Auburn
Nope, try again, would much rather that schedule, agian, right now, we're looking at 3-4 top TEN teams, with 2 being Top 5. This isn't even counting Mississippi State who most folks have around 15-20ish

Are you claiming Alabama Auburn and UGA will all still be top 10 in the final rankings?
Again, FOUR West opponents alone were top 5 at some point in 2014 and three were #1.
Wisconsin finished #13
The West as a whole and Florida are in shambles being rebuilt right now.
2014 was the best the SEC has ever been and it really isn’t even comparable.

Guy gets points for having those blinders securely in place.

No they didn't see their final ranking above.

I am claiming to know what we know RIGHT NOW since anything else is pure speculation. RIGHT NOW we are slated to play 3-4 Top 10 teams looking at rankings, that year we played 1 that ended up that way. Sure, we may only play only 1 again that ends up Top 10, but I think chances are more than 1 stays in the Top 10 out of UGA, Bama, Auburn & Miami.
If you want to compare pure apples to apples, we can do pre-season coaches Top 25 as well from 2014 if you want:
2. Alabama
5. Auburn
14. Wisconsin
19. Ole Miss
20. Texas A&M
Again, still not as tough as our 2018 schedule is shaping up to be.

I agree with all of that. That was a concern last year and it surfaced against State, Syracuse and Troy. That’s easily the #1 I’m looking for this year improvement wise and hopefully better communication/cohesion within the staff makes that happen.

We played 4 SEC teams that ended up ranked by end of season and only 1 of those was Top 10. Florida was bad and we also played Kentucky who sucked.
You are really stretching it.
