really, until the SEC offices are moved out of Birmingham and the current admin is kicked out you will always have to deal with this

we really do need to move the SEC office to Atlanta or somewhere where an obvious bias is not present. the SEC should be better than this.

as far as the current admin. they are balless SOB's as evidenced by them shamefully allowing and supporting them alone to cancel a game. this comish cat is clearly not qualified to run this conference. that situation never should have been allowed to occur and the slinky bastard should be fired over it.

Please explain

How about the obvious no call on the targeting kick off? How about the holding calls that are almost never called or do you really think Alabama has all that rushing going on without holding?

You guys are good. No one denies that. You are just not that good without some help.

Saban hires the officials in the offseason, which all live in a reasonable area from Birmingham so they can meet and review their performances during the season. They consult on what is allowed. Well, after being paid to teach these kids what is legal vs non-legal, it is difficult to be objective, especially when you're practically on a first name basis with them now. Also, human nature plays a big part. I do think Perriera has a point w the conspiracy charges that seem to favor teams that are in a better position to make money for the conference, but a bigger influence, IMO, is just basic self preservation. When you live in an area supported by fans of a certain base and your full time job depends on their patronization, it becomes more difficult to be objective

I just thought this should be highlighted again, especially for the Bama fans in this thread who keep questioning it and saying we need to go to coaching clinics to understand officiating and what not.

. Many of you think they all meet in secret and plan how they will cheat for Alabama and how they will screw over all of the other teams.

they don't meet in secret and plan it, they don't speak to each other about it , it's just their normal human bias of living and being part of the Birmingham culture and employees of the Birmingham SEC offices.

people would be jailed for sports fixing, and the whole system would collapse

no bag men are involved. There are no payoffs.

not if their bosses in the Birmingham SEC offices have the same biases. In this case they would probably get a promotion. ie: Tom Ritter (ole bug eyes)

Of all the teams out there, Bama doesn't need help from the ref's but it looks like the SEC thinks they do!

If there were such a grand conspiracy as many of you profess to say, personal reputations would be ruined, people would be jailed for sports fixing, and the whole system would collapse.
No, that's not how it works at all.

It's not some organized grand conspiracy. I've seen it in other situations, most notably Louisiana high school wrestling, where the refs tend to favor certain schools over others. If a larger percentage of the operating refs are from certain school, if a larger proportion of the refs have business and/or social relationships with certain schools, if a larger proportion of the refs live within the footprint and are always surrounded by the fans of certain schools and/or are fans themselves, then they are going to naturally tend to be biased toward those schools. They may even think they are being perfectly fair when they are not, just as passionate fans may sometimes conclude that they they are being screwed when they're not, or that they're not being favored when they are.

That's how it works, but to say that referee bias does not occur is analogous to saying that corruption does not occur in politics or back stabbing does not occur at the office. It''s completely naive to believe that any endeavor that involves humans is completely moral. In fact, to not assume that people will naturally want to cheat in order to get a desired outcome lacks an understanding of basic psychology. Not everyone actually does, but some do whether subconsciously or with full intent.

Well, it wasn't that obvious. There are similar hits on kick returns that happen all the time that go uncalled. I'm not saying that we never catch breaks, EVERY team catches breaks. Just like TAMU caught breaks in their game against us yesterday.

Again, we are ranked almost last in all of college football in penalties against our opponents. That completely destroys any kind of claim that we get help from officials.

You say it's the "timeliness" of the calls we do get, but I have presented two examples that go directly against that, and yet you people still are shouting conspiracy. It's just dumb, and whiney.

It's the no-calls that really give them the advantage; just ask Speedy.

They don't throw the game with bad calls, that would be too obvious. It is done with no calls and judgement calls. But, if you play much better than them, you can still win.

Being bias behind closed doors is one thing. Doing it with millions of people watching/instant replay is another. I'm sure that most of the refs are Bama fans and Bama fans haven't complained about a bad call/no call all year. It's all BS and the only ones complaining are bias themselves.

The fact that Xavier Lewis was tossed from a game for throwing a block based on a review in Birmingham while Speedy nearly gets killed with multiple replays and no call made me spit out my drink and laugh out loud at the bias. Alabama is by far the best team, why do y'all need the refs too?

And then the clear PI when A&M caught the TD pass 3 feet from the official.

To make matters worse about that non-call for targeting Noil, later in the game A&M was called for targeting.

No consistency whatsoever.

So that was inconsistent, and the non-holding calls on Bama, along with ignoring pass interference against the Tide on a few occasions as well.

Did you notice on every change of possession where yal got the ball back there was a penalty on the punt or the next play after the kickoff or tur over? They also hit yal with multiple penalies after yal would get in fg range. That's what the refs do they are bamas field pisition.
