It’s always suspicious to me when an okay program all of a sudden starts getting better recruits and all of a sudden becomes a top-10 caliber team.
Yep
You know damn well though that top level coaches are screaming at the NCAA about Wade. He's threatening the power structure.

Yep, I figure this will cost Wade the job here.
College basketball is just filthy.
I see a Bruce Pearl like situation.
Good Coach brought down by getting caught playing the game

Memphis with the Derrick Rose SAT deal. They never had proof that someone took it for him, and Memphis had their season vacated.
Shows how little you know. The SAT invalidated Rose's score. Whether he cheated or not, he played at Memphis while ineligible, because he did not have a passing SAT score.
They did not need to prove he cheated, because his score was thrown out by the SAT.

he' exactly right. Coach K, Cal, Saban, etc aren't personally offering these kids money.
Hence the term "bag man".

Dawkins is obviously going scorched earth in his defense, so don't you think if he had the smoking gun phone call we would have heard about it by now?
I suspect there's a bunch of vague "offers" on these phone calls, but nothing conclusive.
Now, the question is, is there other evidence of money changing hands? If so, Wade is screwed. If not, I don't see how anything we know was said on the phone calls to this point is conclusive evidence that a violation occurred.
Excellent points right here.

Not a great look for Wade and LSU. At a minimum its terrible PR. But IMO, the NCAA is going to come probe LSU's arse. The scary part of that is that LSU might be a big enough name but not a CBB blueblood... the type of program the NCAA won't mind making an example out of to pretend they've got some teeth.

ok, but would you have the same opinion if this was about the coach at Alabama or Florida? Or would you be screaming that they're cheaters?
Are we the NCAA?

That's what I see
NCAA needs to fix college basketball or just look the other way. You cannot compete by doing it "right"

Doesn’t sound like he has to explain shite. Nothing verbal was specifically mentioned. Not gonna get penalized for implied offers.

Wade isn’t either that’s the point. He’s not stupid

I take comfort in the fact that the puritanical LSU Compliance Office has not recommended for Wade's firing yet.

How is he fricked, it’s a Baton Rouge kid. A strong offer could mean several things. Like he’s Fromm Louisiana, and will be taken care of for the rest of his life if he chooses LSU.

There’s no investigation into Will Wade. There was one nothing was found and now he’s testifying in another case. My god people yal can’t be this dumb.
Posted on 3/7/19 at 12:54 pm to GumboPot
well, the main point is that Wade will be under oath and will be asked to elaborate on what this offer entailed, what he meant by "tilted to the family", "piece of the pie", etc..
it's not looking good.

Chill out guys. If there was ever a time for this it is now with Mark Emmert (former LSU chancellor) as the head of the NCAA.
Why would he want to destroy the athletic department he helped create that we have all enjoyed for the last several years?
He doesn't. I assure you.
Short of some obvious smoking gun from the FBI that ties his hands I don't see anything coming from this.
I also think Alleva and LSU needs to double down on Wade and by no means give up on him due to political pressure. I will be pissed if LSU parts ways with Wade over this.

That may be good for the FBI, but does the ncaa need that level of certainty to drop the hammer?
Right. The FBI and the NCAA have different thresholds.
Hopefully the FBI investigation amounts to nothing for WW, which is looks like and the NCAA investigation amounts to one lost scholarship for a couple of years.

Not sure if serious but:
Having a reputation like this might pay dividends in the end.

If he stays vague on the stand and not give them what they want.
