Now we know why Pat Forde was so angry last night

Exclusive: Wiretap reveals LSU coach Will Wade discussed recruiting 'offer' with hoops scandal middleman
quote:
A 2017 phone conversation intercepted by the FBI between LSU coach Will Wade and basketball middleman Christian Dawkins features Wade speaking freely about a “strong-arse offer” he made in the recruitment of a prospect, Yahoo Sports has learned.
On part of the call, Wade expresses frustration that a third party affiliated with the recruitment had yet to accept Wade’s “offer.” Instead, a verbal commitment to LSU was being delayed because Wade theorized he hadn’t given the third party a big “enough piece of the pie in the deal” and instead “tilted” the offer toward the player and his mother.
“I was thinking last night on this Smart thing,” Wade said. “I’ll be honest with you, I’m [expletive] tired of dealing with the thing. Like I’m just [expletive] sick of dealing with the [expletive]. Like, this should not be that [expletive] complicated.”
There is no elaboration on what the “Smart thing” is. Javonte Smart is currently a freshman guard at LSU and formerly a top-50 recruit from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Isn’t it okay to “discuss” ? Honest question. I imagine you can discuss it as long as they can’t prove you engaged in it.

Just read this. This looks really bad.
ETA: I want to clarify this for some of you. There can be no disputing that it “looks bad“. It looks like he paid a player. I am not disputing the provability of any of this, or what the final result will be. But you are mistaken if you don’t think this looks poorly for our coach.

The tape does not reference any specifics about the “offer,” if the particulars of the “offer” violated NCAA rules, if the player and/or his mother ever knew of the “offer” or if anyone accepted whatever the “offer” was.
Move along, nothing to see here.

No? Just because you talk about something doesn’t prove jack shite. Having a conversation will mean absolutely nothing at this point at least.

Pat Forde is a tool and trying everything he can to keep this story relevant to ruin Wade as much as he can. It's pretty pathetic.

This is about Smart not the other recruit.

If you want it to look bad, it looks bad. Seems vague as hell to me. I could infer anything about the "offer".

It would be appropriate for them to hammer an up and comer instead of the icons that have paved the way for this corruption.
I hope it gets nuclear.
I don't know really want to give a shite about the sport anyway. LOL
Sleeping on sidewalks as a student to see teams of the past play unfortunately ingrained an interest I've yet to completely eradicate.
But it better be whistle blowing to the top. Every single one of those guys Vitale gushes over.

This doesn’t look good at all and I would expect an incoming ncaa investigation

Can someone explain how this is any different than the Cam Newton shite?

He’s done.
That call is 100% about Javonte Smart

Thought for sure, Johnny Jones would have been the ONE coach to take the program down for violations. Guess unfortunately, looks like it will be Wade. Raise the banner up for a second then will have to take it down.

When was the call? When did Smart commit?

Man, you can’t even give a kid’s dad a brand new tractor anymore. Sad

ESPN, citing court records, previously reported that Dawkins had “at least three calls with a cellphone number belonging to LSU coach Will Wade, each of which occurred between June 19, 2017, and June 30, 2017.” Smart announced his commitment to LSU via Twitter on June 30, 2017.

I've suspected for a while the reason there is a hesitancy to give Wade credit for the LSU turnaround and COTY as well as giving LSU it's due is because the national media is waiting to see how this plays out. Hopefully there is no "there, there" and Wade and LSU can move on.
