i remembered returning back to the dorm friday night (saturday a.m. before the game) at 2:30 a.m. and driving by Stanley Roberts having a good ole time. During the game, I would see stanley run up and down 2-3 minutes and then look to the bench with his hand raised wanting to come out----of course, during the time he was in the game, i do not think he missed a shot from the field

He wasn't the only LSU guy begging for a blow in that game.

Perhaps the very most talented offensive players, as a team, ever to play for LSU.

I can remember, near the end of the game, the camera panned the crowd and there was a woman with large breasts bouncing up and down in the crowd...anyone remember this?

I remember walking by press row after the game and they were removing the typewriter that someone broke while typing the real time game stat sheet

I watched that whole game. I don't think there has been an LSU team as good as that one. At least not since I started paying attention to sports.

Not sure which game I enjoyed more, Loyola-Marymount or UNLV.

Ditto. I picked a great time to be at LSU for basketball. Football, not so much.

Too bad for Westhead this didn't work in the NBA, his team there (the Nuggets, I think) scored a lot but gave up even more.
Westhead coached the lakers to a championship, but was fired two years later. That was when Magic was a rookie.

Anyway, this was a fun game and Gathers was amazing the way he kept going at it after getting his shot blocked. How about CJ vs. Gerald Glass, Alan Houston, and the Kentucky game where he scored the last 18 points (was it 18?). LSU vs. Az was fun as well.

Crazy thing about that game; each team was shooting less than 35% from the field 10 minutes into the game, but it was like 31-28.

My neck still hurts from them going back and forth.

I remember a post-game interview with Westhead when he was still at Loyola-Marymount. The interviewer said, "Coach, it looked like when <opposing team> switched from man to zone it confused your team a little bit." Westhead replied, "Well frankly, if they have enough time when they're running up the court to figure out what defense the other team is in, they're not going fast enough."

Didn't work as well in the NBA though. I remember once I was in the Philly airport early one morning waiting on my flight. I saw these giant men walking by and then I recognized Chris Jackson and realized that it was the Nuggets. They had played the Sixers the night before and man, these guys just looked beat. I'm not a morning person by any means but I don't think I've ever seen a more tired-looking bunch of people.
