2) The negotiations with Wade were clearly ongoing while McMahon was still employed by LSU. While I think his record warranted termination, the whole ordeal clearly gives off the vibes that LSU would have kept him for another year if they couldn't get Wade. It's a shite or get off the pot situation for me. If you want to move on from a guy, move on.

frick that. He was terrible at his job and he had $8m still to "earn". Unless he's willing to take less money, string him along until you get your guy.

1. Why would he want to stay (unless no one else is going to hire him)?
2. Why would we let him stay after what he's put on the court the last 4 years?

It obviously would have had the potential to become toxic, but at the end of the day he is under contract and would have been obligated to work.

On LSU's side, as much as the decision to pursue Wade was about winning, it was probably fueled equally out of spite. Based on the moves LSU have made outside of Wade, and conversations they likely had, they were probably pretty confident they could land him back in BR.

I get your premise, but we have examples of coaches under contract who were not working for LSUs benefit if we are to believe the reports.

If that means being hated everywhere else, then so be it.

This is what tends to happen to most programs that are successful. Hence the phrase from the great unnamed philosopher, “they hate us because they ain’t us.”

From the link you posted:

Will Wade to LSU creates college sports’ most unlikable trio — but there are levels

The utter ridiculousness of Will Wade returning to LSU means that its athletic department will boast the most unlikable, objectionable, insufferable trio to occupy football and basketball head coaching jobs under the same roof

Damn they’re salty. Most unlikable to whom?? The media???
Because I’ve already received friend texts from an Oregon fan, a bama tard, and a Miami fan saying how jealous they are.
Yeah they don’t like it because we’re expected to dominate. This is great I hope the pieces keep coming with Wade and Lane dominating as Jay and Kim already are

I mean he was fired for cause from LSU. Why are people so shocked this is getting negative publicity? Even wilder is LSU held no formal coaching search. There are multiple reasons this is going to get raked over by the media.

Occasionally, every once in awhile, you have a post that is spot on. This is not one of them. This is your normal, garbage post. The only reasonable retort to The OP is this….

“If the national pundits applauded LSU on a hiring search, I would be concerned. I know LSU got it right because of all the faux outrage.”

But we aren’t even a blip on the national map in basketball right now. We better keep things clean as possible because there’s a magnifying glass on LSU sports and a bunch of angry people ready to tear it down.
.

Can you be any more soft? Good god man grab your balls. Who gives a shite. Are they gonna write mean things about us? Oh noooooz!!!

Do you think the NCAA will come after us?? We have new school leadership that aren’t pussified woke weaklings and a governor who was the last AG backing everything. He’d hit them with so many lawsuits their head would spin.

It’s really the college sports writers (Forde, Thammel, etc…) that have just had the strange obsession with Wade since the FBI stuff happened and they won’t let it go.

For the most part, yes. If you think about it the whole purpose of focusing on Wade was to keep the heat/attention OFF blue bloods like Kansas and Duke. It’s that simple

Feel free to give an explanation. I’m eagerly awaiting your response.

I fully expected the hate from the media. It's popular considering the hate LSU/Kiffin endured 3 months ago. So LSU and their new coach is a popular hate subject.
I can understand bitterness from NC State and hate from the media. CWW took the NC State job 1 year ago and almost got them into the big dance. LSU poaches him after they fired him 5 yrs earlier for cheating.
The only way the hate wouldve been more intense would be if LSU went back to Ole Miss and poached Chris Beard.
So the hate at LSU is understandable. I don't care. It will pass and be forgotten next season.
