Kiffin is a good coordinator, but the best coordinators do different things based on the personnel they have. Bama has awesome personnel, so I think it's easier to be a coordinator there. LSU's is pretty damn good too in the personnel department. If Kiffin doesn't have a real running QB though, he probably would change some of what he does according to his personnel's skills.

Even if Saban knew some of his tendencies (though Kiffin would know some his tendencies too), it would be hard for LSU to be less productive than we already are against Bama with coordinators who haven't worked for Saban.

He has to be. Be careful for what you wish for when it comes to free reign. Had free reign at UT and USC too.

But Kiffin sucks didn't you hear? They don't want him... They've had Peyton manning type quarterbacks each year Kiffin has been there and that's why he's looked good and had success. He's nothing without bama

Not Steele. Chavis had no discernible impact.

Saban will roll with Sark and they will not miss a beat.

Kiffin doesn't suck, but they aren't taking some huge hit by losing him.

And if Sark was hired here you guys would bitch about his substance use problems. I'm good with Lane. Hope the best for Sark. Hope he can get his life together bc he's a good coach in his own right but I'll take Lane every day and twice on Sunday right now

If you think it's not a loss to bama you're kidding yourself. Will they crumble? No. Will it be a loss? Better believe it

Bama just replaces parts. Players and coaches are replaced on the Bama assembly line machine and the product tends to remain the same. It has been pretty incredible.

You are over-analyzing a very simple game. It really doesn't matter which plays are called, it's about attention to detail in the execution of a play.

Saban does not know any more about X's & O's, blocking or tackling than any other coach at his level. Saban knows how to evaluate talent and motivate them to abuse their bodies for the mutual good of the player, the team, and the coach's bank account.

This is sad!!!

It's hilarious listening to the same BR local radio shows who wanted no parts of Kiffin jut months ago now in a complete Lover's Swoon wit Kiffin. Lol. The same radio personalities who cussed at the thought of Kiffin stepping foot on LSU campus now feel sorry for him cause Nick Satan errrr Saban chews him a new one on TV and doesn't treat him so good. Po Lane....Po Lane.

This is utterly Pathetic but funny too!!!

Running a program isn't the same as just running an offense.

But I still would prefer we didn't get Kiffin.

Did a Steele hire give LSU an advantage over Alabama? Did an Aranda hire give LSU an advantage over Wisconsin? Did Chavis give aggy an advantage over LSU? Did McElwain give Florida an advantage over Bama? Did Craig give LSU an advantage over Auburn?

You are backing up the OP's question (even though this is merely based on wins/losses for what the "advantage" is derived from): LSU hiring Steele gave Bama an advantage. LSU hiring Aranda gave Wisconsin an advantage. A&M hiring Chavis gave LSU the advantage. The McElwain hiring by Florida gives Bama the advantage. LSU hiring Craig has been advantageous to Auburn. Therefore, LSU hiring Kiffin would be an advantage to Bama.

Absolutely not! If you look at Saban's reactions on the sideline, apparently Saban doesn't know what plays Kiffin will call, even when they're coaching for the same team

ex-fricking-actly! Football coach salaries are completely absurd.

These are men who dedicate their lives teaching other young men how to block, tackle, throw, catch and run. Yet they are paid better than people who devote their lives to understanding very complex, important challenges.

I love football as much as the next guy, but glorifying these PE coaches and making them out to be strategic masterminds is lunacy.

The game is about being bigger, stronger and faster than your opponent. Achieve that, and you'll win 90% of the contests.

How so?

Offense was issue versus Wisky & we beat A&M regardless of D Coordinator.
