Although it's tough to say we are looking at a repeat of 2019 - I think there are some intriguing similar trends that could put us on a path to really having an outstanding season that possibly rivals that amazing 2019 season:

First, Joe Burrow was good his first year at LSU, but by no means the Heisman Trophy winner he was in 2019. Also, no one (outside of LSU) had Justin Jefferson as the stud 1st rounder he became - he had 54 catches, 800+ yards and 6 TDs as a sophomore. Chase was solid during his freshman year but still didn't put up any kind of dominant display. CEH was behind Nick Brossette in 2018 in practically every rushing statistic. No one, nationally, saw the potential for the momentous uptick LSU experienced offensively, but the same similarities were there for 2018 to 2019 as there are in 2022 to 2023, and possibly even some more positives that weren't there in 2019.

Daniels is in his second year and posted more rushing and passing yards, rushing and passing touchdowns, better passing percentage, less interceptions and a better passer rating in his first year versus Burrow's (not saying he's better than Burrow - just that he had better stats in their respective first years).

CEH had one of the greatest statistical seasons in LSU history in 2019 at the running back position, and LSU had TDP as the second RB, and John Emery as the third. Well, for this year's running back room, Noah Cain, Josh Williams, and Logan Diggs 2022 stats are all in line with CEH's production from 2018 AND LSU still has John Emery - as our 4th running back.

And though all three wide receivers showed glimpses of their electric potential, JJ, Chase, and Marshall's statistical production in 2018 was less than dominant. This year, Nabors is coming off of a more productive sophomore season than JJ's 2018, Thomas' was better than Chase's, and Lacey's was better than Marshall's. Again, not saying this year's group is better than 2019's corps (because that would be ridiculous), just that their 2022 statistical production was better than that group's 2018 production. Throw in Hilton and Anderson and the odds are definitely in our favor of having a dominant group of wide receivers.

At TE, Mason Taylor's 2022 was better than either Stephen Sullivan or Foster Moreau's 2018 and just slightly off of Thaddeus Moss's 2019. Add in a 4 star frosh and a stud transfer and our TE room is looking primed.

In case you missed it, LSU's defense this year is loaded - Aranda may have been more experienced, but this defense has dominant studs everywhere, and a couple (possible) generational talents in Smith and Perkins.

Finally (and sorry for hijacking this post), CBK is better coach than CEO. He's better at X's and O's, he's better prepared, and he doesn't have to rely on his coordinators to make all of the calls on game day. This team has a real chance to win it all this year and maybe even build that argument to be compared to 2019.

But, that's just my opinion.

Already in the plans - one's a senior in High School this year and it's pretty much down to Tech or LSU - I'm trying to stay impartial, but, uh :geauxtigers:
Hey all,
Taking my sons to their first LSU game and was wondering if any of you knew when the Band will march down Victory Hill (or any other times of interest) - also would like any recommendations for parking - we're staying off Essen, so anything on the south side of LSU would be preferable (I think). Thanks in advance and :geauxtigers:
Stevens is listed at 230. Here's a really good comparison on 247 sports that Dandydon had today:

Seriously, that story certainly aged very well.

I think of this list, the one that, both, the team and the player, would benefit the most from by staying is Cush. It can't be overstated how huge it would be to have his experience with MB coming in as a first year starter. I don't think Cush gets higher than a 5th/6th round grade because the position he plays is just not valued in the draft like others, and I don't think he is going to put up huge combine measurables that he would need to, in order, to change his draft grade.
Thank you for all the input! :geauxtigers:
Not trying to get flamed here, but going to the Bowling Green game this Friday, and it's the first time to an LSU basketball game in a while. I was wondering how the parking around campus is for BBall games. Any recommendations? I'll have my wife and three teenagers in tow, but we're still fairly mobile. Also, will probably walk over to the Chimes after (if it's not too slammed) so anything in that area would work. Thanks. Geaux Tiguhs!!!

I have to say that, even though he was NOT a good basketball player altogether, Glover Jackson had a 50+ vertical. It was otherworldly. Also, I'm not sure we can say his name around here, but Lester Earl was also quite a leaper.

Further, LSU has long used the chant "Tiger Bait!" to harass opposing teams. As in, you should be maimed and eaten by a tiger. It is quite violent. Do they literally mean that our opponents should be eaten by a tiger? Of course not. Nor does the playing of Neck and the accompanying chant portend the actuality of sucking off a tiger. Yes, it is lewd, but it is organic and it is ours.

Ok. 1) It's not being said directly at any specific one person, 2) the ones it is being spoken to, certainly, aren't going to high five the ones saying the chant about it and 3) they aren't literally meaning it - it IS all out of fun and IS totally fine. Your points are shite.

To be honest, I love the song and the chant. Though it is referencing a sexual act on a tiger, it's certainly not chanted in an actual, literal, or even sexual, sort of way. It is a completely absurd request, which is what, IMO, makes it okay. No one is actually going to try to do that without getting their face ripped off (kinda the point of the chant, right?) Kind of like when someone says "bugger off!". Buggery is British slang for sodemy, so this sort of acceptable reference to a lewd act in the public domain is not unprecedented, or even, uncommon. Besides, if we're closing in on the end of the 4th against Alabama and in victory formation, the band better play Neck, and Nick Saban can STTDB.
Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer. The search for the "gayest" chant, in all of its intended and unintended meanings, is over.
But as some have mentioned, I think it was huge for recruiting. Most viewed game on opening weekend and a dominant performance. How could it have not helped?
Better way to ask the question (so as not to be attacked) would’ve been “How much did the win help us in recruiting?” Most of us realize you were just opening it up for discussion, but there are some savages on this board that prey on any slight.
"thanks for the link!"

Sorry you had to take the extra seven seconds to google it.

Athlon's preseason All SEC team...

Posted by Ace Bondage on 5/24/18 at 8:15 am
LSU had five players make the four deep preseason All-SEC team, tied for second to last with Auburn, only one more that Vanderbilt's four. Georgia led the way with 13 players, while Bama was tied with Missouri at 11. I know it's meaningless preseason accolades, but I don't feel great about being more than doubled by Missouri, and only having one more than Vandy.

re: GOAT parents of LSU athletes

Remember how Karl Malone impregnated a 13 year old when he was 20 and then contested the $125 a week child support? GOAT parent? I don't fricking think so. When Malone met his child for the first time (an 18 year old Demetress Bell -- former Buffalo Bills O-lineman), he told him "you're gonna have to get your own money." Besides that, he has several other illegitimate children that he never, or only recently, acknowledged as his. Malone is a rancid pile of trash, but he could dunk, though.

Pretty sure that one with Narcisse handing the ball off is to Brossette (#4) not Ducre (#41), but I could be wrong...
