The hire better be good enough that I don’t have to look up his background as an assistant.

Solid in both, but good pitching beats good hitting every time.

I want someone who is going to go with his hot hand Starting pitcher vs pulling him for a mediocre bullpen.

Hitting is fun and gets the crowd going but if you're serious about winning a CWS title, you have to pitch your arse off.

One thing this CWS has shown, our pitching staff is way behind the upper echelon of teams. Some many guys running out their throwing higher velocity than anyone on our roster.

People are going to be in for a rude awakening when the next coach inevitably will make a wrong pitching decision because as it turns out CPM is not the only coach that does this.

A pitching coach can't make a guy add 6-7 mph though...that is arm talent

A coach whose background is pitching can identify, recruit and sign better pitchers.

Top prospects are committing their freshmen and sophomore years these days. You better have an eye for talent and be able to project where a kid will end up.

If it were me, I'd devote the majority of my 11.7 on arms and fill out the rest of the roster with TOPS. This is similar to what O'Sullivan does at Florida but he has better in-state talent to work with.

I think a great PC could do that but also develop and teach a guy how to pitch. I am amazed that teaching kids to throw changeups is so difficult. If a guy throws 91 but has an a good change he can be very effective.
