Would LSU have been better starting Myles Brennan vs Danny Etling in 2017?

Nah. Myles weighed what? A buck fifty when he got here? Regardless we were still running 2 wides I formation in 17. Wouldn’t have made a difference

Nah, while Danny Etling wasnt the most talented guy, Myles was far from ready.

Myles was only a freshman and weighed somewhere between 170-180. Against two pretty bad teams, Troy and Syracuse, he threw 1 TD and 2 Ints.

Danny Etling was a game manager at best, but he didn't turn the ball over much and was a senior who knew the offense.

He wasn’t ready. Might have been another Jarret Lee situation where he develops bad habits because he was thrown in too early.

No one on here knows. Only the coaching staff does, and they started Etling.

This is a dumb thread.

First off, Danny Etling was not a bad quarterback.

Secondly LSU’s biggest problem with QB’s from 2008-2015 was having to put guys in before they were ready and they developed bad habits that were never able to be fixed by either the players or the coaching staff.

Third if LSU has an established starter coming back for 2018 do you think Joe Burrow comes to LSU?

Why would Burrow come to LSU with a returning starter in Brennan?

I wouldn't say he was good either, there's a reason he left Purdue

He was just the better QB we had at the time which doesn't say much

He would have been All-SEC with our 2019 offense. The problem wasn’t Danny - it was still the scheme.

I agree he’s wasn’t a bad QB, but he would constantly stare down his receivers.

Have you never watched "back to the future"? You don't go change things that led up to last year !!!

165/275 60% 2463 yards 16 TD 2 INT

With the 2019 system in place, he would’ve easily produced >3000 yards & 25 TD’s. Danny was a solid college QB.

Did you watch the spring game when Myles had that dear in the headlights look when O sent the D every down.
McMillan looked more competent at that stage and it's why he knew he better look at transfer options with Burrow.
Had he played a vanilla spring game, maybe he doesn't go get Burrow.

To be fair, we were still running two receiver routes so there wasn't many options to look at

Looking back at it, with the offensive scheme and personnel I thought Etling did a damn strong job in 2017.....hell, in 2016 I still believe that having Etling as a competent QB saved the season.

Apparently he was also a tough mutha frikka
