I think the win the next week was much more instrumental, and I don't really think we needed to lose to UAB to beat Tennessee.
Then we have an inherent disagreement.

I believe as a fact that losing to UAB was indeed a major factor in defeating Tennessee the next week.

It was still an anomaly. In any other season we would've been shut out of the BCSCG

It was an anomaly, but that's how the 2007 season went.

Each season everybody is evaluated relative to one another, meaning a contender may have no losses, one loss, or possibly several losses, so long as equally good teams don't have fewer losses.

I know you're not trying to belittle our 2007 NC, but others love to use the "in any other year" argument to try to. But it wasn't any other year, it was 2007. By that logic, a one-loss contender in one year could be considered unworthy since other years had no-loss contenders, and in those years, a one-loss team would've been shut out of the NC.

Each year is one little universe onto itself, and really can't be compared to others in that way. JMHO

I agree with everything you said.

I'm not at all belittling 2007 NC team. We deserved to be there and won it. Each season is a microcosm all unto itself. That's why the 2007 Arky game at this point is "oh shite" tempered with "oh, nevermind".

The point of this topic was the worst losses in the last 20 years. Without context, then worst only means how many points we lost by.

I prefer, for me, to view in my context. 2000 UAB/1999 Houston/2007 Arky/2003 UF/2004 Iowa really have no real place in worst losses except way down the list.

In the last 20 years, I would take games that hurt - not agenda based (don't think you have an agenda, btw).

I think AU 2006 may top my list, because it was a WTF game that really cost a deserving LSU team of a shot at an SEC and National Championship.

1997 Ole Miss game after beating Juggernaut UF the week prior would also make my list. 1998 Georgia (as a poster mentioned prior) also. Top 10 LSU getting Teppered by Quincy Carter in the what was supposed to be the fruition of "bring back the magic". Tyler, Faulk, Mealey, McFarland, Jarvis Green, Tommy Banks, I think Ryan Clark? That loss was the beginning of 7 losses in 8 games.

Those types of losses have more meaning and hurt to me.
