off the top of my head:

1. 1/9/12

2. UAB '00...no comment

3. getting drubbed by ole miss in '08 AT HOME

4. 31-0 loss to bama in '02 AT HOME...worst game I've ever experienced in TS.

5. Losing to Ole Miss the week after we upset #1 UF in '97 AT HOME.

Any loss to Ole Miss or a team from Alabama is just painful.

Most bandwagon fan thread ever. There is no way that anyone who remember the blow outs of the 90's would say that 1/9/12 was the worst. I remember being a child and hoping that we just score. A lot of bandwaggoners in here.

Sorry, but I'm just not that immature. Every single loss that contributed to a 2-9 season is far worse than whatever loss contributed to a 13-1 season. Maybe you and I differ on what "worst loss" means, but losing to the National Champions in the National Championship Game -- though terribly disappointing -- is not "worse" than losing to Colorado State or USM at home, or Florida by FIFTY-FIVE POINTS AT HOME, in a losing season. 119 out of 120 schools in 1-A would trade seasons and programs with us right now. In '92, there might have been 20 (and by '94, it might have been even lower). The losses that contributed to that were far, far worse than the loss that led to #2 in the country.

Only the most shortsighted and spoiled of fanbases could possibly see that National Championship Game as a "worse loss" than getting humiliated 3-58 on their own field.

#1, UAB, a school realistically still Div2.
Take your pick of 3 or 4 UF and FSU embarrassing 4-5TD blowouts in '90s.
The 3 losses to NU 83-'86(?) when I thought maybe LSU had finally arrived.

1-9-12 hurt due to NC loss, but we at least split with them.
I don't think some of these guys really know misery. I wasn't a child but sure got accused of throwing fits like one.

Truth.

Might as well have been Curly as the coach with Phil Bennett as the D coordinator.

Whatever. I'm sure if you'd had a winning MegaMillions ticket, they'd have had to take your shoelaces away when you found out you had to split it.

Hope they keep the sharp objects away from you til next season. Maybe if we go 14-0 they can let you have your belt back.

Out of all of the losses that upset me, the most recent one is the one I forgot about the fastest. There wasn't any football after that, so my mind turned to other sports and if it wasn't for this site it probably wouldn't come up again till next season.

And that is much, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH worse.

How do you think we got to the point of expecting to get blown out? By suffering losses ridiculously worse than 21 points in the National Championship Game.

Oh I'm sure even if the team goes 0-14 you'll be singing about sunshine, lollipops, rainbows, and lemon drops.

That's because unlike me, you clearly have no clue what it's like to have an actual shitty season. And no, it's not because I think you're too young, it's because you're simply too fricked up to recall it correctly. Your disorder has conditioned you to believe blindly that whatever situation you are experiencing currently is the worst thing that could possibly be, which has resulted in your obvious inability to rationally compare things like a loss in the National Championship game to a National Championship team, and a double digit loss at home to a barely .500 mid-major.

For me it has to be the Miles Boner Championship. Nothing else is close. Not even the losses to Tulane in the early 80s. Worst prep job for a big game that I can recall. So much for his rep as a great coach in the post season. He has miles to go before he reaches even, IMO.

Utter embarrassment.

Utter embarrassment in front of millions and millions on world wide television.

I may have to change the sig.

eta: utter embarrassment =losing to teams you should beat handily, not splitting a pair of games with a team almost your equal.
