That was the game Kevin Faulk broke out of the huddle early on offense and ran around waving his arms to pump up the crowd. Pretty awesome.

eta: I don't know if that is quite right.
I was only 8.

1. BCS game against Bama
2. OT loss to Arky in 07.
3. Monday night loss to Tennessee. Just seeing transfer Rick Clausen lead a comeback was sickening
4. 2006 Auburn
5. 2000 UAB

#1, UAB, a school realistically still Div2.
Take your pick of 3 or 4 UF and FSU embarrassing 4-5TD blowouts in '90s.
The 3 losses to NU 83-'86(?) when I thought maybe LSU had finally arrived.

1-9-12 hurt due to NC loss, but we at least split with them.

1) 1/9 - Not only the worst loss in recent LSU history but maybe one of the worst losses in recent college football history. Epic, all-time F Up. One for the ages. The worst sporting event I have ever watched. There should be a monument to that loss with a reflecting pool where people go and sit and say "man, that was fricking sad."

2) Ole Miss 2009 - Embarrassingly awful.

3) Tennessee 2005 - beaten by a bad team with a reject backup qb at Tiger Stadium after being ahead 27-3. Pee yoo.

4) UAB in 2000 I think? - not so bad because that was the first year with a new coach after the DiNardo firesale and before LSU really learned how to win. Still pretty bad because it was UAB.

5) Florida in 1993 - lost at home 58-3, the worst point loss in LSU history. Not quite so dramatic because LSU football was being raped and murdered by Curley Hallman at that time and therefore was not really surprising. Still, it is the ultimate reminder of the darkest days of LSU football.

Kevin Faulk was always first out of the locker room "raising the roof".

Yes, that game was during Kevin Faulk's era. It was the start of the downfall with Dinardo/Tepper. We were a top 10 team and a freshman qb lit us up in Tiger Stadium.

fixed it for you. You can't call out Lee in #5 without calling out Jefferson for #1.

Hard for me to argue with these or the way you summed them up nicely. Monument with a reflecting pool ...

This game really shouldn't be on a worst loss at lsu list. You have to put that game in context of what had happened. Lots of the players had family living with them, many of the players had their homes destroyed in their home towns. There was little time to rest. They were flat out exhausted after playing a great first half. The game was on a monday already throwing them off of any game week schedule that they possibly could have had. The loss was bad but I don't dwell on that game all things considered. Especially because the team went on a remarkable run after that with no bye weeks to win the west and go to the sec championship.

At Arkansas in 2002. If anyone doesn't mention this game then they were too young to remember. We just won the SEC the year before and were fixing to go back to the SEC champ. game when LSU D let Ark. go 70+ yards in 3 plays to end the game on a pass for a TD. If LSU wins that game they are in the SEC champ. game 3 years straight because we won it all in '03. Bama NC game is #2.
At Bama in '09 where the refs cheated is #3. #4 is Ole Miss Mississippi Meltdown and #5 is the hail Mary pass against Iowa in the bowl game.

The worst that I can remember from the last decade:
1. 2011 season BCS championship game against Alabama (still waiting for the 30 for 30 special on that collapse)
2. 2009 season at home against Florida (I lost my respect for LSU's students that day as the student section left during the 4th quarter with LSU down by only two scores with over 7 minutes left)
3. 2004 season away against Auburn (ref-gate)
4. 2004 season Capital One Bowl against Iowa (Ronney frickin' Prude)
5. 2010 season away against Alabama (Peterson left a divot inbounds)
6. 2009 season away against Ole Miss (Meltdown in Mississippi)
7. 2009 season Capital One Bowl against Penn State (The Mud Bowl)
8. 2007 season at home against Arkansas (I thought our season was over)
9. 2005 season SEC Championship against Georgia
10. 2005 season at home against Tennessee (Monday Night Football)

LSU got a touchback on the kickoff after kicking the field goal with about 50 seconds left. Matt Jones had completed about 5 passes all game up until that point. Yeah, I remember.

If the list doesn't look like this...

1. 1/9/2012
2. 1/9/2012
3. 1/9/2012
4. 1/9/2012
5. 1/9/2012
*.
*.
*.
999,999,999 1/9/2012

...then you're not being honest with yourselves.

Stakes couldn't have been higher that night, given the nature of the game, it's location, and the season LSU had had up until that point.

It was a devastating loss, given it's high-profile nature.

Not trying to be overly dramatic or anything but, c'mon, let's be real here.

1-9-12 to Alabama was THE worst loss in LSU history.

Forget Jamie Howard. Forget the U. Forget Florida and 58 points.

21 to zereaux is the worst.

WORST (Top 5) LSU FB losses in last 20 years
quote:

1. Number 1 all-time has to the Vandy loss (at Vandy) when Kinchen caught the winning TD and then ruled illegal push-off

More than 20 years ago. 1990.

quote:

2. 40-3 blowout loss to the "U" (Miami Hurricanes).

More than 20 years ago, in 1988. Also, it was 44-3, not 40-3. 40-3 was our win over them in 2005.

quote:

4. LSU loss w Josh Booty at QB against Troy State (I think)

UAB, not Troy.

For me, the top 5 of the last 20 years would be this:

5. 7-3 loss to Auburn in 2006's "Refgate" game. Never saw a team get screwed so consistently throughout a game as that day. It wasn't just one really egregious call, but consistent bad calls over and over and over. It cost us the SEC West title and possible SEC and national titles.

4. 36-21 loss to Ole Miss in 1997, one week after we had knocked off #1 Florida and appeared to be ready to become an elite program.

3. 30-26 loss to Auburn in 1994 when we held them to 165 yards of offense and no offensive TDs. Howard's three pick sixes in the fourth quarter were flat-out surreal.

2. Though in hindsight it didn't matter, 50-48 loss to Arkansas in 2007. At the time, it looked like we had blown our chance at a national championship.

1. January 9, 2012. We actually did blow our chance.

Colorado State and USM were pretty bad ones under Curley. Miami of Ohio under Arnsparger was also a disaster, as was DiNardo's loss to Houston.
