Nikki Fargas.

Kim should've been at LSU for the last 5 years at least.

Hallman runners up.

Archer, Laval, Johnson and Jones all get votes.

Jay McCreary, LSU basketball coach from '57-'65. He has a winning percentage of 41.6. McCreary returned to LSU a few years later as an assistant coach under Press Maravich. Frank Truitt, McCreary's successor was 6-20 in his only season at LSU.

Curley is the obvious choice. Serious consideration has to be given to Archer for destroying a good program. Curley, to his credit, took a team almost totally depleted in talent and loaded it up pretty good for Dinardo.

Archer took a very strong team and ran it down quickly.

Smoke was pretty bad but he did get us the the CWS where we went 0-2. Nikki was terrible too.

Thanks Mr Jones but it’s true, if not for having a connection to Ben S, it would have been even worse

Y'all can hate on Curley but he brought talent here. Didn't use it but got them here.

Hallman, Johnson, or Jones would have been a better group.
I would say Hallman. He couldn't Coach HS ball.
Once again, who hired them?

Took curly 4/5 years to load it up for Dinardo. I think we at least had a .500 team somewhere in curly years, but he was just a disaster as a Head Coach. My vote for the worst football Coach hands down in the last 100 years of LSU football.

Yet Archer was far worse at recruiting. Head football coaches, due to the size and complexity of what they manage, should be judged as program managers.

Remember George Eames? Lot of political BS Archer had to contend with in those days.

If your answer is anything other than Curly Hallman then you didn't live through them years or fully understand how bad he was.

Jay McCreary should not be in this conversation.

He was a fine man and fine BB coach. He did an admirable job with what he had to work with.

LSU back then played in what amounted to a rodeo arena.

Agree that Curley is likely the most inept HC we have had, but "worst coach" is broader than that.
First, the term is broad enough to cover co-stars, coordinators and even assist. coaches who were spectacularly bad. Here Lou Tepper and Bo Pelini and last years ST coach (Poulan?) might deserve consideration.
Second, while Curly was probably the most inept in my lifetime, in terms of sheer destructiveness to the program in a short period of time, Ed Orgeron and even Will Wade deserve special consideration.

Sorry, don't buy it. Archer was immature, a grown man would have sailed through those waters the way his predecessor did.
