I guess if losing 42-13 to a team that didn't make the playoffs is competitive, then sure.

We weren't even in the discussion for a 12 team playoff...

Would gladly trade WBB and Gymnastics to consistently be in the NCAA tournament.
Woodward should too if he was anything of a businessman. Don’t know why he invests so much money in revenue losing sports.
Baseball I can see, but nobody gives a shite about the others.
And that other poster can take that ‘23 football champion pic down that was Alleva’s hire.

2019. My bad. The football champion logo backdrop, and trophy being presented to the football coach that Woodward didn’t hire

Has lsu ever been good at basketball?

Like really good. Not just a one-off season

Let it go and embrace the face we’re a football/baseball school.

There’s really no school that has success in their third power sport.

He’s LSU’s Loomis. LSU will never be competitive in a single sport as long as he’s here. He should be fired today along with ever hire he’s made—no matter how or how small. Then he should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. His execution should be broadcast next to Elon’s so the whole world can see it.

Still went 9-4 and was above .500 in conference play. It's not where we want to be for sure, don't get me wrong. This upcoming year imo is a make or break year for BK. But it's nowhere near the level of futility that the basketball program is at right now. The basketball program is dead last in conference record the last 3 years since MM was hired. It's a special level of bad.

At least football has a Heisman, 3-0 bowl record, SEC West title, and well above .500 conference record. We should aspire for more, especially with a 12 team playoff now. But they're competitive. At least there's something to point to for the football program. There's literally nothing to be optimistic about for basketball. It's all bad.

It’s only not near the basketball program because MM stinks up the joint so bad.

The football results have been far from acceptable or what should be at LSU.

I don't disagree with that. I never like losing to Florida (my personal #1 hate team), the Bama game was an embarrassment. We're 0-3 in week 1 games. Quite frankly the defense hasn't been up to par in either of the 3 years, and intangibly I feel like the swagger around the program, which was kind of a big part of the identity of LSU football, has been neutered a bit in the new regime, it feels more corporate now. The last part honestly wouldn't be a problem to me if the results were what we wanted to be, but that isn't the case. Coming from someone that was initially a fan of the BK hire, yeah it hasn't been ideal and he deserves criticism. I won't fault anyone for taking shots at him, he shouldn't be immune to it if he isn't meeting expectations. I'm an LSU fan, not a BK fan, not a MM fan, not a WW fan. I don't hold coaches above the program even if I do have opinions on what they bring to the brand and their respective programs inside that brand.

I just don't agree with the "not competitive" line for football. They're competitive. They're just not elite. Not even great. Just average/slightly above average. Which, again, I agree shouldn't be acceptable at LSU given the resources, history, and expectations. But it's not like they're posting losing records or anything, not even in conference. To compare that to what basketball is going through is just silly. This is honestly the lowest I've felt about the basketball program in my entire life and it's not hyperbole. I'm legit disgusted anytime I turn on a game, it is absolutely PAINFUL to watch LSU basketball under MM.

Woodward's ego is what is important

This is such a common diagnoses from low information fans. You’ll hardly ever hear someone, who knows what’s up, say this. Woodward has a ton of information you don’t have. He knows things like how much money boosters are going to spend, and how best to balance these among the various sports, and what the State budget is going to be.

I’m not saying that all of Woodward’s decisions are going to be good ones, but he is operating under constraints that you just don’t know about.

It’s amazing that some of you who barely passed highschool think you know more than a nationally known AD.

Wade F’ed up and he’s never coming back. End of story move on dear god.

Some of yall don’t understand that we aren’t going to give the buyout. Ride it one more year and put money into NIL. Once he fails next year the buyout goes down and they can fire him for less.

Quit kidding yourself there's another reason he's playing it back another year, IMHO - one I've already suggested several times here so I'll refrain from re-posting.

But your suggestion is indeed the company line trotted out by Mascona first then echoed shortly thereafter by the media sheep. After ignoring hoops all year all of a sudden everyone who had not mentioned it before all came out at the same time with the same story. Coincidence?

I would do a complete 180 on that fat frick if he rehired Will Wade. But he won't
the enthusiasm around men’s basketball would be insane if he would just do the right thing. All that fat must be blocking his thinking though

The energy around the program would be electric

-Baseball is ranked number 1 with a championship in the past three years
-Football is in good shape regardless of what the lunatics here think
-Women’s Basketball wins non stop
-Gymnastic wins non stop
-Softball- best club in years
-Track wins championships

Pretty much everything but men’s basketball is ranked.

I want Wade to coach the basketball team as much as anyone, but to pretend Woodward hasn’t worked his tail off to put LSU in the best shape possible is asinine.
