You don’t understand how things work.

In a lengthy article in The Advocate today, numerous friends and peers were quoted, and all used the words "very competitive" to describe him. When is the last anyone heard that about any AD? James Carville also considers him his "nephew " they are so connected, his son Woodward's best friend.

Bleeding purple and gold is not a requirement for an AD. I want a mercenary, someone with loads of talent who understands that the school's success is his success. This "one of us" crap is severely overrated.

If he checks all of the necessary boxes to qualify for the AD position AND he also checks the box as being a fan and alumnus, wouldn't that be a good thing?

If this were to happen LSU would immediately become uncompetitive in the SEC. It's an arms-race and we have to keep up.

He may be able to figure something out on this one without disrupting the corporate dollars.

Alleva was an outsider. He was a major a-hole dealing with him. toxic. Always thought he was above everyone. His way or the highway

Wrong it means a lot actually. You can’t believe for one second that him actually being an alumni doesn’t excite him and motivate him just a bit more to be successful as an AD. If you do your wrong.

Says Woodward being "one of us" is key to his success.

Sh*ts on Orgeron every chance he gets.

Same guy.

*You're

I would rather a very talented AD than just an LSU grad.

Just a bit of history for you. The last LSU alum who was AD, Joe Dean, hired Curley Hallman and Gerry Dinardo. While he was at the post when Saban was hired Emmert actually made the hire. By the time Saban was hired Dean was on the way out, and for good reason.

If that is what we have coming --- and I am not saying it is --- I'll pass on the purple and gold credentials. It's a nice plus but far from a requirement.

It’s amazing to see the pivot of all of the people who jab O about it, now love that Woodward eats crawfish and cooks a mean gumbo.

Woodward is homegrown,
If I remember correctly you were one of the guys bitching about Orgeron hire . Isnt he "homegrown" also? And before you say one isn't like the other, I do realize that Woodward brought Fisher in at A$M . But that type of money would bring most. I like both hires

I'll pass too.

Did Saban bleed P&G when we hired him? Did he bleed crimson when Bama hired him?

The Rant is so dumb it thought Alleva wanted LSU to do bad at sports.

If being homegrown is a requirement for success...
1. Why was he successful at Washington - he isn't from there
2. Why was he successful at TAM - he wasn't from there
3. Nick Saban - not homegrown at LSU or Alabama, but...
4. Skip Bertman - not homegrown at LSU, but did OK despite that

All things being equal between different candidates, it might make a difference. But that is far down the list of criteria when selecting someone.

I don't see any "pivot". The problem with the O hire was "he one of us" was virtually his only qualification.

Not sure people realize how big this is. It was WIDELY accepted that he was never leaving Boise, except for a blue blood program. Even that was doubtful.
