Woodward is homegrown, was at all our spring games while at A&M, and is a true fan of LSU. I have no doubt in my mind he is going to put us in the best position possible to succeed on the field, all the while addressing the other gameday issues. He lived it, and he knows what makes LSU great.

This is the aspect that has been missing for so many years. Something always felt off with Alleva, but I don't feel this way about Woodward. It's hard to explain, but he has the authenticity of a man and leader who bleeds purple and gold like the rest of us. The sun was even shining brighter this Easter. I just feel like LSU is in good hands as long as he is here. Cannot wait to hear the presser Tuesday.

Bleeding purple and gold is not a requirement for an AD. I want a mercenary, someone with loads of talent who understands that the school's success is his success. This "one of us" crap is severely overrated.

And he's capable of doing his job.

He got Chris Petersen to Washington.

And Jimbo Fisher to TAMU.

Basically what you just told us is you want to blow him. It’s very simple, no need to put purple and gold glasses on it. The AD makes sure of the best possible chance for all programs to succeed. If those programs succeed, he succeeds. He doesn’t have to love the school he works for to ensure his want if it’s success. He wants it to succeed simply for job security.

The "one of us" aspect of Woodward is incidental. He's actually qualified for this job and has proven to be great at it.

Solid point, he is a big fan and that helps for sure. But also agree he needs to perform, I think he will be great but I also thought Fargas would do great. He has made some good hires, but before Peterson he hired Ty Willingham...so like any other job he needs to perform and again I think he will.

You just described Woodward's methods. This, on top of being a Tiger is why LSU is so excited. Would not be the case if he was just an LSU grad.

And no doubt will remove incompetent, negligent, dysfunctional and coasting/complacent/past their prime/just cashing a pay check Head Coaches without hesitation.

All the gross little Cheerleader MA's better prepare themselves for a few of their worshipped and idolized LSU coaching gods to be booted out if their teams don't perform...……….

I agree, but the title of OP does not allude to that

To put it plain and simple, Woodward is the central "infrastructure" LSU has been missing since 2007. The people that hired Alleva and then gave him extentions should be fired and put on tractor trailers out of the country to never be seen or heard from again!

I disagree. It’s certainly not the most important thing, but LSU is a unique place, often for the worse (politics, money issues, dumbass loudmouth fans like me). Knowing ahead of time how to navigate the LSU environment is a huge advantage. Familiarity and friendship with the powerbrokers in La. is a HUGE advantage. And it is certainly nice for us to feel comfortable he will never leave for another school, no matter how successful.

I just hope Woodward does away with corporate bullshite and allows the fans to make the gameday experience special again. And stop nickel and diming everyone into oblivion.

Exactly. Mark Emmert was pretty transformative.
