I've never understood why the school never claimed 1908.
Undefeated untied season whats the hold up here? NCF said we were champs, Penn and Harvard were other champs but finished with ties. Even the NCAA has us as football champs in 1908 on their website

We cant help it if the system was flawed back then. All we can do is be the only undefeated team, with a combined score of 443-11, and get selected #1 by the National Championship Foundation. Some of you are looking for reasons not to claim it.

the National Championship Foundation retroactively named champions in 1980. It is not a historical championship, it is a writer (Mike Riter) who had never seen a single game played in 1908.
LSU is not going to print banners and make t-shirts in 2020 for a 112 year old championship because some sports writer Mike Riter in the 80s thought we should have a split title with Penn that year

So to recap: System flawed. Not our fault. Only undefeated team, with a combined score of 443-11.
Maybe this Mike Riter guy is just ironing out what should have done a long time ago. If a champion is going to be recognized, it should be LSU.

my great grandpa told stories how they were complete teams in 1908. LSU needs to claim it
