Explain to me how two years later, “coach O left BK a mess” argument is still valid?

because you still need enough players available.
if they aren't there, you can't sign them.

Because the transfer portal is not K Mart?

If you do not understand why having to fill almost 50 spots over two years (that’s assuming you have zero attrition) is not a rough spot to be in then I do not think anyone explaining it to you will help you understand.

Well, not ever transfer is going to work out. And it rarely works out when you’re relying on exclusively freshmen and sophs.

THE GOOD NEWS- most of our best players are freshmen and sophs. That’s encouraging.

Gentlemen, I fear that I will not live long enough to see another good LSU football team.

Sure, but only after you explain to me how many 4/5 stars were in the portal over those two years and why you think LSU should get all of them when there are 10 teams that have just as big a name as we do.

Deion replaced almost an entire team with new recruits and transfer portal, some from HBC’s. And he has been able to field a team out of that overhaul that lost to USC by 7 points while missing their star player. Im not saying that Colorado is in the same level as LSU but he inherited a program in worse shape than LSU and the trajectory for now looks pretty good. A good coach can work with what he has in front of him.

I mean it kind of is.

sure you can find a bargain there, but for the most part, you get what you pay for.

most kids are in the portal because they were buried on the depth chart at their old school.
sometimes just changing scenery is enough for them (Joe Burrow), other times, they just weren't good enough any way. that's why they're available to begin with,

Because A) you are drawing from a smaller pool of players, usually players who can't get playing time at the school they're at.

And B) taking players out of the portal is a short term fix that sacrifices long term roster maintenance. For instance, we were able to get 2 good proven DBS last year, but completely at the expense of this season.

Plus, You can still only have 85 players

Most of the kids in the transfer portal aren't there because they were stars where they came from. It's to fill a few holes, not build a whole roster

Let’s see what Colorados record is at the end of the season.

He’s doing a good job but the overreaction to him winning a couple early games was not warranted.

The playmaker on that team came with him from his former team. Hell the qb and leading tackler are his kids. It's not a normal situation.

Plus Oregon absolutely ran them over

CBK had to start with only a 39 man roster in January 2022.

BK came from Notre Dame. Why wasn’t he able to get more guys to transfer with him outside of Diggs a year later. Or flip any recruits? He had a much better pool of talent to pull from than Deion did. And yes Oregon manhandled them but that was expected to be the case. But he won games already they shouldn’t have and played a close game with USC. All with a group of guys that haven’t really ever played together before.

No, there were 39 scholarship players available for the bowl game. More players were on scholarship and roster, but chose not to play. O was fired in October and LSU didn't name new coach for 2 months later. That gap hurt LSU in recruiting, but Woodward figured it was worth it to get his guy as coach. Whatever you say about Miles and O, you can't say they couldn't recruit. Hopefully, Kelly will equal what those 2 pulled in.

Idiots. Idiots everywhere. JK Johnson got hurt. Syracuse transfer didn’t translate well all. Same for a southeastern transfer. A knucklehead from A&M. A freshman in Stamps is a freshman. Welch is ok but young too. Greg Brooks is fighting hell. Major Burns was given away by Georgia. Sage Ryan has been busty since arrival. Where is the confusion? We can’t just buy a portal secondary, no one can

After 2 years, it shouldn't look this bad.
