The article in a way says we are a bunch of dumb rednecks with a lot of money that only spend it on football.

I think a pretty strong argument was made in the comments... What the author of the article failed to mention is that schools in the Big 10 typically sponsor more team sports than those in the SEC. Therefore, even if the athletics programs are Top 10 nationally for revenue that money is being spread out to more programs leaving fewer dollars to pay top-tier assistants just compensation.

I think the OP overstated the fact that the author showed disrespect for LSU in a poorly-researched article.

Met a badger fan last night in St Louis who was insistent we over paid for aranda. All I could do was laugh in his face. That's why they will always be Wisconsin.

The only "negative" I've seen on the wisky boards is that they think our players might be too dumb to pick up his scheme dumbest shite i read and it was a common theme from then

Interesting article, telling in some of its misinformation and shaky reasoning. frick Tom Oates. Aranda just tripled his salary and will now compete in an athlete-rich region of the country. Boo. Hoo. Wisky.

Football is so important to people in certain regions — like, say, SEC country — that schools will do almost anything financially or academically to keep their programs on top. Others can’t, or won’t, follow suit, even in the well-heeled Big Ten."
Wait?!? Les Miles decides our academic standards, I never knew.

Damn near tripled. Only the homer-ist of homer Wisconsin fans thinks that this was a lateral move. There was some idiot in the ESPN comment section (they use the Facebook system so we know exactly who this idiot is), who said it was a step down. He tried to say their 10-3 season was better than our 9-3 season (forgetting we both had 3 losses).

You know you are crazy when you say losing 3 games in possibly the worst or second worst division in power 5 is better than losing 3 games in the best or tied for the best division in college football.

Wrong... That shite was shot down the other day on the 104.9... I think they have like 3 more athletic programs than LSU.

Almost tripled it.

Yeah, a "lateral move"...

Why wouldn't it be considered a lateral move?

Because of the almost tripling of his salary just for starters.

I think he would have taken a step down for more than double the money

Title should have been:
"Wisconsin unwilling to pay for top notch defense"

I mean I'm sure everyone one would like a top 5 D for a top 50 price. That's not how this works...
Saban is not at bama bc he wanted to live in Tuscaloosa, it's for the 7 million other reasons per year.
