"Last week, defensive coordinator Dave Aranda left the football program after three acclaimed seasons to take the same job at LSU, a step many fans viewed as a lateral move"

Didn't we essentially double his salary?

Their message boards weren't calling this a lateral move at all, but whatever. You also have a pretty low threshold for being "disrespected"

Oh well they're just whining cause they got the Butt Hurt

Mr. Oats should try some old school research, something that reporters today fail to do.
"It would be nice if everyone played by the same rules, but that is hopelessly unrealistic. Football is so important to people in certain regions — like, say, SEC country — that schools will do almost anything financially or academically to keep their programs on top. Others can’t, or won’t, follow suit, even in the well-heeled Big Ten."
LSU academics gets money from LSU Sports, not the other way around. LSU Football is self sufficient...no funds are taken from the university to pay coaches or expand stadiums.

What makes this hilarious is Jim Harbaugh's salary.

That's how you know we got a good one, when the other school and its fans get salty about it.

LSU athletics as a whole are self sufficient because it is a very well rounded sports program. The SEC in general is very well rounded. People outside of SEC country do not realize how big baseball is or track and field to SEC schools. The same way that we down here don't realize that hockey is big for big ten schools and they actually make money off of it.
If Wisky wanted to start paying their coaches like we do they can without compromising their academic side. That is a weak excuse.

He went from being a DC to being a DC. Is our DC position something like a Co-head coach or something? Why wouldn't it be considered a lateral move? Is it because he's moving to a program that traditionally has better talent available than his previous school?

Wait, I thought we were just a bunch of poor rednecks down here in the south?

Not to mention Harbaugh's assistants which I'm sure got some pretty good contracts too!

Lateral moves usually don't entail an $800,000 a year raise.

The president of our university struggles to understand this, how is some hack from Wisconsin going to get it?

I don't think Ron Dayne could have been that smart...just saying
