It's not as if playing good defense requires you to work out complex mathematical equations.

You are going to cherry pick avg yards per play

It's not cherry picking. Yards per play is by far the best way to measure an offense's success.

It's not skewed by the amount of plays you run like total offense is.

Which offense is more successful when the ball was snapped?

400 yards on 35 plays
410 yards on 50 plays?

It's the same way ypc is a better stat to gauge a rbs success.
Lsu doesn't run a HUNH so our totals will always be affected by that. People that understand football know that offensive yards per play is a pure stat.

quote:

Just go look at where we rank in passing yards per game

Then say our passing is bad because our offense isnt.
quote:

total offense per game,

A skewed stat that is affected by plays ran.
But I'll oblige you. we have a horrible total offense ranking of 36th in the country. ahead of Florida st and bama. 4th in the sec
you realize you can look this shite up right?
quote:

scoring per game
35th in the country ahead of Bama and fsu.3rd in the sec
You realize you can look this shite up right

quote:

You really think our recruiting/talent isn't better than every team in the sec outside of Bama? I

As you can see the talent gap between bama and lsu is bigger than the gap between lsu and Ole miss.
THE ABOVE RANKINGS ARE NOT MY OPINIONS. THEY ARE FACTS
quote:

Yeh Arkansas is probably much better talent wise right?
The same arkansas that led bama for 3.5 quarters?

LOL. So many comments about our players not being cerebral enough to pick up his schemes.

My favorite one was this:

Not sure what he will be able to do-- he could do more here because he had smart kids.

i read about 3 pages, and in fairness, the board as a whole seems to be very rational and understanding their team's place in college football....can't say the same about our beloved Rant.

I know. they even misspelled scheme... I don't see a "k" anywhere.

btw, they've progressed (they are primarily liberal progressives in Madison). . . not only can our players not learn Aranda's skeme, they are illiterate now.

I'm in the enterprise software business. Not in my 11 years on this board did I ever imagine I'd see a Great Plains reference on the rant.

They are in a bit of shock because it just is not in Wisconsin's nature or history to pay that amount for any assistance. Hell, I think the Big Ten's highest paid assistant was making something like 890k. OSU's highest paid assistant is only making something like 650k. So not is it only a high number to us Wisconsin fans, it trumps everyone else in the Big Ten as well.

Honestly, if Alvarez did counter with an offer (which I hope he did) it probably wasn't over 800k/year. That would have made Aranda close to the highest paid returning assistant in the Big Ten. Obviously that wouldn't have been enough to keep him.

Anyways, Aranda is definitely an X's & O's kind of coach. Where the perception of LSU players not being able to pick up his defense came from is probably a quote that Aranda said himself when he first came to Wisconsin. He said something to the effect of "He was amazed at how fast the kids picked up the D. Faster than any other group he ever has had.

Now that is no reason to make the huge leap that the LSU kids cannot do the same thing. That is just flat out ignorance from my teams fanbase. But don't take it personal. Every fanbase obviously has some over the top characters.

When the Badgers played TCU in the Rose Bowl, every TCU fan that came to one of our message boards or for that fact stayed on their boards kept calling/referring to us as Canadians. Wisconsin doesn't even border Canada, but the facts did not matter to them. They just kept going with ridiculous shite like that to get under our skin.

Meaning, once a stereotype is out there, you really can't do anything to change it. Is it stupid, hell yes, and honestly it's not even something to waste your time with.

In fairness to the criticism of LSU being "cerebral", has anyone seen the penalties we rack up week after week after week after week after week.......

So, LSU's players aren't smart enough but somehow Aranda could coach them when they get to the League? Funny...

LSU is an NFL factory.
