Will we have beer on tap next year?

I’m listening to Cody Worsham’s “Hey Fightin” podcast right now and he’s got Robert Munson on talking about the alcoholic beverages being sold in TS. As of right now, they’re going to have to open each beer can and pour the beer into the cup for you.
This is obviously going to ensure long waits for concessions, he didn’t specifically say that they would have taps next year. He said this was an SEC wide rule that there will be no cans sold in the stadium.

Can see so many fricked up pours, with tons of foams, spillage or not even emptying the cans.
Will take at least 3 or 4 games into the season to get it right.
All I know is that I'm expecting long lines Saturday and hoping to drink 1.5 beers per quarter.

I'm not even trying to drink beer in the stadium. I'm not going to miss game action to wait 25 minutes for a foamy, most likely (not ice cold) beer

That’s another thing he said, TS doesn’t have cold storage.

That'll be $10

Hopefully not, they need to just do the aluminum bottles. Its way faster and easier to move around with

Are y'all going to have Dixie Beer? Please tell me you'll have that swill available!

I agree, but that’s an SEC rule. Nothing LSU can do about it.

You are talking about installing a commercial keg fridge system in the storage / back kitchen area for each concession stand, running piping to the tap handles on the counter of each stand. that's a decent sized project for a stand. It may require additional electrical as well. Now, consider the number of stands in TS, and all of the other campus facilities.
It's a huge project - both in time and cost. Which means someone has to pay for it. I don't see the state allowing the university to directly pay for it, which means they will either need to lease the systems, or have TAF do it.
this isn't like having a keg in your garage.
If they get after it, should be ready by 2020 football season.

That news is going to kill any desire i have to hold out for buying beer in the stadium. The concert venue in Dallas makes their employees pour out cans for every beer sold, and it is paaaaainfully slow. That's going to be a disaster. I will just stick with bringing my whiskey in the game.

Beer on tap doesn't solve issues. Employees still hook the wrong beers up to the taps. Oh you want the premium? Hands you a Miller that came out of a blue moon tap.

At Saints games, alcohol is only sold in cups, iirc, and with waters and sodas you get to keep the bottle but they remove the cap.
The reasoning as I recall it is that they don’t want people throwing full bottles or cans from the stands (onto the field or towards other fans lower in the stands).
Since alcohol can potentially lead to bad judgment, they take away the potential for it to be used as a projectile completely.
People drinking sodas or water are considered to be less likely to throw the bottle, but caps are removed just to be safe (it’s not nearly as dangerous without the cap).
Don’t shoot the messenger. I’m assuming LSU and the SEC are following similar protocol, likely dictated by school/conference lawyers.
IMO, Tiger Stadium will have draft beer either next year or the year after at the latest.

Yeah ik all of that, ive been to football games before.
They still need to just do bottles and let us keep the caps.

They sell beer in aluminum bottles at Saints games too, it’s not just in cups. They do keep the cap though.

That's right: in addition to Tiger Stadium, they've ALSO got to do the same thing for the PMAC, the Box, Tiger Park, etc. Granted, those venues will be less of a logistical nightmare than Death Valley, but it's work to be done nonetheless.

I quit drinking a few years ago so I suppose the policy has changed since I last payed attention to it. I haven’t really payed any attention in the past 4 years.
That (cups but no bottles or cans) was the policy for a long time.
After the NFCCG, when 30-40k people threw their white towels (and many threw their drinks) when the refs failed to throw a flag, it wouldn’t shock me if that policy is eventually reinstated if it hasn’t been already.
