quote:why didnt he do the same at NC state? He lost 14 games and won 20. He got beat by an average sec bb team. In a regular field of 64 he wouldnt even have made it. "But but he was at NC state tho its harder" My point exactly. Mcneese is in a scrub league. The bigger the league they harder it will be because of nil. What coach in that scrib league was better than him? Nobody. Of course they gonna go to mcneese if he is there. This wont be the case at lsu unless they release the money. End of story. Lsu has been a doormat for years in basketball. Nil fricks over those types of programs. No kid is gonna play for will wade at lsu unless they match or outbid a better program. Then ww will have to constantly turn shite into salad just to be relevent enough to make a first round appearance. Remember. 70 teams in and then another bunch allowed for nit. I mean you just need a pulse to make the post season now a days in basketball. Not hard to do by default. Until lsu makes it out of the top 32, lsu ain't doing nothing in mbb. Jmo.
How did he do what he did at mcneese

Personally, I think that wade would have levels of success similar to his tenure here. He was a consistently good talent evaluator. It’s not like we were making deep tournament runs. What may happen is the occasional team that doesn’t make it.
I am still personally under the impression that LSU is not willing to provide the resources that NC State is willing to make. So I don’t really believe he will come here. But if he does, I would expect us to regularly be in the NCAA tournament and occasionally have a team that can make a run.

It will be hard to tell. A good coach with much lower resources. How far will it go? Will a good coach even come for lower resourses. Lsu was better off as far as basketball before nil with an attractive coach making strong arse offers lol. Now those strong arse offers will be much greater than lsu's
Wade will have to fight nil
Wade would have to fight the better programs losing recruits to them simply because they offered much more.
Now if lsu would open the flood gates , guess what, it could be big. They wont do it. Lsu will share a whopping 3m to basketball. You think nil will show up with the other 17 to 20 to compete with the top schools? Auburn had an undisclosed amount of nil but it was north of 20 mil and Kentucky was even higher. Crazy stuff.

I think wade would be fine with LSU’s resources. But I don’t think it would make sense for him to leave somewhere more committed to basketball. Or at least men’s basketball

Wasting your effort with this post. Some people, for whatever reason, refuse to believe that LSU is not a Blue Blood and is Committed to Mens Basketball.

You act like Wade was the only guy paying players
Everybody was
And he wasn't in the top-20 of paying players - He never paid $900K for a house for one of his players Moms and I can only imagine how much Worldwide Wes was getting for Cal's players over at Kentucky.
Wade can fundraise. We need a coach here for basketball that can fundraise. He'll be fine if it's him coming here.....He'll win. I'm still not convinced it's a done deal, but I am convinced that there is a well-financed group determined to do what it takes to get him here and I'm more than fine with the attempt.

He did okay before but he was obviously cheating to get it done. The way he was cheating is now legal everywhere , so his advantage is gone

Yeah, every other program was clean from 2017-22

This is an interesting take....but that doesn't mean its a good one.

Yet Wade was the one who got caught.
So he sucks at cheating?
If cheating always happens, why would anyone want the guy who is the worst cheater of them all?

Nailed it.
I will add that writing a check was rookie mistake
(although extortion etc i know) kansas text messages saying “cash” payments and they never got penalized. Nor zona nor duke…the OG mafia basketball bag men had a system that worked

That's convenient to say but it's a bit more nuanced than that.....I mean EVERYONE knew Duke bought Zion's Mom a house. Self had texts implicating him in offering Ayton 6 figures. I could literally go on and on.
You can quibble with the term "caught" but that really is splitting hairs. There was absolutely a double standard where some were allowed to get away with cheating.

The funny thing is one of the controversial calls was in regards to Balsa Koprivica so ended up at Florida State.
So he was getting outbid in the past by schools like Florida state but now he’s going to suck

And you forgot, he really can't coach. Nate consistently made Wade his son. Wade is the King of Runner-Up!!

Cogent analysis. Thank you…

I didnt say anything about talent. I said he will fade into line with NIL because lsu simply wont pay for basketball.
"LSU" doesn't contribute the NIL. Donors/booster do.
And I think it is pretty telling that one of Wade's boosters at McNeese is the chairman of the BOS at LSU. Aside from that, where do you think Wade was getting the money to make his "strong arse offers?". Contrary to the groupthink falsehood, its wasn't from his or his wife's pocket. It was donors/boosters. You just didn't know about it because it wasn't out in the open then.
The VERY FIRST thing Wade did when he arrived at LSU in 2017 was essentially travel the state and meet with every group, business, potential wealthy donor that would have him. That wasn't to get assess in seats. That was to raise the money to buy players. Wade understands the fundraising aspect of this. He did so at McNeese. That's how you take a nothing program and immediately turn it around. He got the buy-in (financially) from SW Louisiana donors. The donors like him.
Don't confuse "LSU's" purported lack of NIL funding for a disinterest on "LSU's" part. Largely, any lack of funding falls on the shoulders of a head coach that wants NOTHING to do with fundraising. Look at Kiffin, Mulkey, Johnson. They are visible and out in the market fundraising. Have you ever seen McMahon doing anything besides occasionally handing out donuts on the first day of school? He's Trent Johnson 2.0 in those terms. Which is part of the reason you've seen Trent Johson 2.0 in terms of results (after the Brady holdovers left). McMahon outsources fundraising and recruiting. That's why Woodward, not McMahon, brought in David Patrick. He tried to find someone who could do the job McMahon can't and doesn't want to do.
Wade would come in and fundraise. He already knows the doors to knock on. McMahon just wants to coach and avoid the gladhanding for money. That's fine...IF YOU ARE A GREAT COACH. Unfortunately, he's not. So what you have is a Johnny Jones level on-court coach combined with Trent Johnson total avoidance of the "inconvenience" necessities of recruiting/roster building. That combination = the worst LSU basketball coach in 50+ years. It's not an accident. It's simple cause and effect.
Would Wade ever win a championship at LSU, or come close to one? Who knows? But one thing I DO KNOW, with certainty, is that Wade would shake the trees for money...which is why the foundation of your argument is based on a falsehood.
