To be fair, they both guys played under the same coaching staff. I can't imagine Jones was some miracle worker with regards to Tuba but somehow just couldn't get Robinson to a least be just as serviceable.

The biggest problem with Robinson is that he's 7'0 put plays like he's 6'6 wearing concrete shoes. He takes a while to get his shot off and it's coming from a relatively low release point. Athletic 6'7 guys eat him alive. I don't think he'll ever have the quickness to be a significant factor on offense, and he's just not explosive enough to be a shot blocker (even at 7'0). However, you can't coach size and at 7'0 even just standing still he can alter shots at the rim. He also should be able to clear some space on the boards.

I will note that for all of Johnny's faults of which there are many, he gave Kentucky what for undergunned for his entire tenure here.

Calipari was very clear that the one team he feared every season was LSU. Even this past season the final margin was very respectable. Truth is Kentucky was luck to win a couple of games during the Jones era.

I wouldn't say lucky. I can remember two games we lost close that absolutely came down to Johnny's deficiencies as a coach.

We lost one in Lexington where we gave up like 68 out of 72 points in the paint and lost by one when we couldn't keep the Kentucky guard out of the paint, he missed but they got an easy put back.

The Martin/Mickey game where Cal out maneuvered Johnny at the end with his one loss team.

Coaching matters.

If Wade has Brady type success you should be kissing his arse.

No, he'd be fired. Four tourney trips in 10 years isn't success. Yes, Brady had two very good teams and he inherited a shite show but he hit lows after the sanctions were over.

Based on last years roster it has to be Jenkins and reed vial that are gone already. Neither one were worth a shite

Yes, you and I agree. Wade could be the man, but until we really see the team play, until we see him bringing studs to campus, it'd all window dressing.

I've seen coaches come and go. Dale came in sounding like this guy and guess what? We became a power.

Brady came in with some of the same hurdles, and issues, and did fairly well but he never got us in cruise control.

Both Johnson and Jones flopped and were almost exact opposites.

No one knows how the Will Wade era will play out. He's starting with a poor roster, and a team of poorly coached kids. He's got to go up. How high and how fast is yet to be determined.

Poor Elbert can't keep up with the intensity Wade demands. You could see that coming from the beginning
I'm afraid the same might be true of Branden Sampson as well. He is such a laid back guy I don't know if he can bring an all out attitude like Wade wants. Wade has said he likes Epps, Duop and Mays so the two or three he is talking about have to be among Sampson, Elbert, Patterson and Sims.

I think it really depends on who Wade can still recruit as to if anyone else leaves. There are a couple of good senior transfers he is after and if he gets both then one more transfer needs to happen.

Seriously, talk is cheap, and its exciting to get a young, energetic guy in here to coach hoops; but for one reason or another our basketball hires have been failures under Joe Alleva.
If you can't listen to WW and tell he's in another world as compared to TJ and JJ, then there's no hope for you.

BTW, the Wade hire was based on the work of Eddie Nunez. Peas didn't have anything to do with it, outside of crossing the T's (t) and dotting the I's (i) in the contract.

Alleva never would have wound up with this guy!

Honestly, Tuba had better natural footspeed than Elbert IMHO. Dude just has heavy feet. To your point maybe he hasn't done all he can, but I know he's lost a lot of weight and I'm sure they have tried some things...it just is what it is.

If listening to what coaches said win games and got you into the playoffs, then Wade is well on his way; however, we know there's way more to it than that.

The SEC is littered with highly thought of coaches who just can't get over the hump. Young, talented guys and mature, experienced guys; who come in with a lot of fanfare and don't cut it.

So far like most here I'm encouraged by what Wade is doing. I like what I hear and I'm encouraged and hope the Wade bandwagon will get rolling sooner than later like everyone else; however, I am a realist and just because Eddie Nunez hired this guy and he talks about the right things it doesn't win games and titles.

We have a steep hill to climb.

At the risk of asking a dumb question, what is aau mentality, I thought aau was a good program, is it?
