Wade was an underperforming man child.
i think his record was the best in the SEC over his time here. in his second year he won the SEC, went undefeated on the road the league.

correct.
1. he a made a tourmnament that was cancelled
2. he made a tournament and was barred from coaching
3. he made another tournament and was fired
so there are 3 chances he should have had to win tournament games. to not mention that is to be intentionally misleading.
the goal for LSU, and most decent programs, is finish near the top of the conference, and make the the tournament. the tournament is a coin flip. wade was doing it. wade was almost surely the most successful and promising young coach in america. even now he is just 40 years old!
we coulda had decades of wins. decades!

I am an honest dude.

We need a Saban-type, meticulous, and able to get the athletic department to move off of top dead center in terms of facilities upgrades.
I just know me - I wanted MBB to be consistent. NCAAT is my bar. Sure, a deeper run every few years. We didn't ask for the sky. Literally... when ppl use literally correctly.
We collectively as LSU basketball fans thought we're likely NIT material. Instead, this is where we are.
Blame coach, players, does it matter? We just talk over each other in ways and lots of people have an angle. I said it before and I will said it forever, I just want LSU basketball to win consistent and be relevant.

Most ridiculous argument even formulated. Let's just not make the NCAAT, that'll be better, right?
And not get to coach when you coached 30+ games to get there. And a complete cancel of the entire NCAAT.

That's a fair point. The results are bad, the key is to figure out the best path forward.
I had hoped MM would do well here. I do feel very hopeful now.
I know a lot have compared him to Curly in football, saying he had his previous success due to 1 player, I even thought that may be true and made the comparison. But upon closer review, the comparison is very flawed. McMahon actually spotted Morant's talent and signed him even though he was 600 miles from Murray State's campus in another state. Farve was an hour from Southern Miss. Also Hallman went to LSU immediately after Farve left whereas Morant had his best season at Murray State after Morant left.
I typed all of that and still, I do not feel hopeful

People, generally non-basketball fans, missed the boat on this. McMahon's success at Murray St wasn't solely because of Ja Morant (though it is worth pointing out MSU had the most losses in a season in nearly 3 decades in McMahon's first two years there before Morant's arrival). It was because Murray St. had been a good program LONG before McMahon became the HC.

He went 13-13 the year Morant left, just 2 years ago.

Only Murray coach in the last 35 years to not go above .500 and he did it twice

The Wade-o-philes have little self-esteem. They immediately fawn over any flash in the pan (and they will do so when the next coach is hired).
Nah they are dug in on this one. We will be hear about Wade until they are in a grave.

Will we ever get rid of him? Doesn't look like we will. A name that lives forever.

He bought less players than Wooden.
He had a better four year record than Coach K.

No, it doesn’t. Is LSU going to have a winning record? Show immediate signs of improvement? Get an invite to the NIT?

A lot of people shite on his coaching but we had one of the better offenses in the league (probably the best) during his tenure. That combined with the fact the guy wasn’t even 40 yet… I think his best days are ahead of him

Being a blue blood is not our call and understanding consequences is smart.
You can accept mediocrity, as a person, or as an institution. You don't have to though.
We went through decades as a dead football program. Then we hired Saban. Things changed, we started winning Championships.
Now we are always mentioned as a possibility of top ten.
With Wade, we had a chance to become a winner. Gutless Woody pushed us back to being wannabes again.
How long Lord, how long?
