A winning college basketball is like sausage, most people who love it, really don't want to see how it's made. Wade showed us and it cost him his job. And that's on Wade.

Wooden didn't get caught of course. He may not have even known about players being compensated. But, there are published believable stories about the people and methods in which players were "paid."
Will Wade lovers just want to win and be competitive. What we have turned into in the McMahon era is looking more like the Johnny Jones and Trent Johnson era.

Nobody is denying that. What we’re saying is, nobody gaf. If you want to be competitive, you’ve got to cheat. There is more cheating done in college basketball than football, guarantee it.

It’s like the police ticketing a guy driving 80 mph as other drivers pass by going 90. It’s selective enforcement and it’s BS, but it’s also the NCAA’s MO. All I wanted was for Woodward and Tate to let the case play out and make the NCAA prove its case to the infractions committee, but they didn’t do that.

I’m not mad he cheated. He was a complete moron in the way he cheated and then only made one sweet sixteen and couldn’t get past that. He really wasn’t a good game coach either.

Wooden started his career during segregation, I'm sorry to say. California was probably the most integrated state in the Union. He could go to almost any state and use that as a recruiting tool to recruit the best black athletes.
Once UCLA became a power, there was a Dr. Gilbert that was the "Money Man" agent who protected the image of the Great Coach. I'm sure, once the reputation of Wooden/UCLA began to fill the coffers of the sports media, they looked the other way. Wooden was a mild mannered gentleman so he filled the image necessary to build the sport.
The Blue bloods coaching salaries increased as the sport became more popular so the were MUM.

We will never know. You don't know the number of other Head Coaches that are in the FBI files. Forde and partners in the coup, were only interested in Wade.

They all cheat - WW was a terrible cheater. You can’t be a terrible cheater and survive if you are not a Blue Blood program.

True, but the bigger point is that you have to do it a lot better than it looks like Wade did. You can’t be sloppy and get caught talking on the phone about offers and you can’t let yourself be tied directly to anything, ever.
It’s all changing now due to NIL, but head coaches still have to maintain some distance from offers that are made.
