He had more success than almost any coach in LSU history. Won an SEC championship, made the tourney a bunch of years in a row. Most SEC wins of any coach in the league last 3 years, etc. Those things don’t scream mediocre to me but what do I know

He elevated a program 2 or 3 notches from where it was when he took over. He was a good to very good coach with room to continue improving. But he made stupid mistakes and lost his job because of it. I hate how it ended up, but it’s his own fault that things ended the way they did.

His team choked more than Stormy Daniels after that 15-1 run to start the season. That alone was firable, even before all that other BS.

I’ve never seen a coach do less with more than WW. He got superior players by cheating and still underachieved. Sure his results were better than what we have seen the past 25 years , but nowhere near where they should be with the level of players he bought and paid for to play here. The level of talent masked his coaching inabilities most of the time, but it’s not enough to take the next step up the ladder. I still to this day couldn’t tell you what kind of offense he taught or ran . Just putrid!! But hey he could get the player$ $o that’$ $omething even if he didn’t know what to do with them after he got them.

I can tell you weren't around for the Dale years if you've never seen a coach do worse with great talent. And Dale recruited way better talent than Wade did.
And for most of the Wade tenure, the type of offense he ran was ranked top ten in the country.
As a footnote, I grew up with Dale and LSU basketball, and it still bothers me that he could never win that natty. But other than the Rudy/Scales/Hi-C team, he had better results with marginal talent than with elite players.
