Just looked up Wade’s contract. He signed a six-year, $7.95 million contract, per Brooks Kubena of The Advocate. Runs through June 30, 2023. He’ll have 2 years left this June. Should be interesting how Woodward plays this. Any thoughts on if he survives even without infractions getting levied?

He 100% will get an extension if he wants it. I don’t think this is something to worry about.

i mean, if that happens then absolutely? i doubt lsu gives him an extension until the investigation is over, but once it's over he'll get one as long as there's no show cause or something.

I would think an extension is on the way over next season. If nothing has come down by the end of next season nothing will come. Wade and LSU will agree to extension at that point. Recruiting wise you don’t let a coach get into his last year of his contract.

Without allegations brought against the program, I think he's good. If there are allegations against Wade and LSU, he's gone. Scott Woodward isn't going to take on the NCAA to save Wade, not with the clouds over the football program and the athletic department in general. He'll serve up Wade if it means appeasing the NCAA and saving the cash cow that is football.

Woodward definitely has a relationship with Mark Emmert, and Emmert is desperate to save face on the whole basketball investigation. LSU isn't a basketball blue blood, so why not use them as an example?

Ncaa needs to wrap it up soon
The cloud needs to go away
It’s been long enough

Give me one reason Wade would be let go other than if infractions come down from the NCAA. Just one. I dare you. I'll wait.

It’s all about longevity. Playing musical chairs at The bball head coaching position would be detrimental

Where do these people come from? Do you not know the state of the program pre-2018?

Bill I have bad news for you, you are retarded. No AD is going to survive saying sure punish one of our sports teams so you save face.

He won’t, or shouldn’t be extended until the sanctions decision is made

Woodward would be a fool to offer an extension to WW if
there is any indication that the NCAA has any dirt on him.
If he does it means Emmert must be informing him on the
investigation and there is no evidence of wrong doing.
Of course it could strictly be a move for recruiting
purposes. If the NCAA does come down on WW LSU probably
has an out clause.

I'm not an AD or contract specialist, but couldn't LSU extend him and if something did happen with the NCAA, they'd be able to end the contract with cause?

Focusing strictly on on-court performance, Will Wade will be the coach at LSU for the foreseeable future if the program continues its trajectory. He's built a consistent winner with multiple rosters now and he's young and has plenty of room to grow as a coach. LSU would be dumb not to extend him. If you don't like Will Wade as a coach and want him gone, it will have to be a result of the things off of the court and right now there's obviously not enough there.

Will have to do something because recruits will want to know if he's going to be here beyond 23

If the NCAA issues an infraction ruling along with penalties on the LSU basketball program, Will Wade is done at LSU.

If they don't, he stays.

Look, I understand getting downvoted on bringing this up. But this has been a national P.R. nightmare for LSU. Fair or unfair, Wade got in this shite on the recruiting of Smart and this cloud is obviously not going away barring a full report being publicly released by the NCAA exonerating him of wrongdoing. I’m not sure that even stops his reputation being denigrated by the biased media continually. What he’s done recruiting wise with this investigation in limbo and the media onslaught is nothing short of amazing. Can it continue without a resolution is the question.
