Agree. With rudderless Crowton calling plays LSU will have no identity. 6-6 or 7-4 I'm calling it. LSU administration will have to go to damage control at that point.

This has been exactly the problem.

Will The LSU Fans Allow Miles To Recover?

Absolutely. All he has to do is perform like he should, and the fans will love him. Just like in 2005. Fans can't make him fail. Only he can.

Fans are positive when the coach does well, and negative when he does poorly. This isn't rocket science. Fans are negative because Les Miles is performing like a moron. As soon as he performs like a good coach, fans will be happy.

Depends on what you mean by "in total". There is a certain core group, whose percentage of the whole is unknown, who just absolutely will never believe that a coach should be fired. No matter how badly he performs, he just should never be fired. They go into all kinds of ridiculous bullshite about what a great guy he is, how no other coaches will want to come here if such a nice guy is fired, etc., etc., etc. They will always be fretting and worrying their little asses off that a multi-millionaire who never earned it and doesn't deserve will get his little feelings hurt.

But all the rest of us are already there.

Not from what I hear or experience but its JMO. In any event 50% is still the kiss of death or at least the foundation for downfall at a major U football program.

Barring some lucky plays, there most likely won't be a NC run next year, and that shouldn't be the standard we should set for Miles. Obviously we should be a contender every year, but realistically our standard should be winning the west.

Besides, his contract doesn't expire until 2012, so there won't be any sort of coaching change any time soon.

And if he does not win the west next year do you still think he will be allowed to continue?

LSU fans would be OK with 9-4 next year, if the team is competitive and the product on the field is better. Its not the W/L this year that sucks so much. But watching the same problems from day one to the end of the season is disheartening.

I will assume that in 9-4 LSU would be an organized Football team that plays well and had a shot to win 3/4 games but the ball just does not bounce there way. Honestly 9-4 under that description would still be sickening to me.

I don't think LSU fans will be happy with 9-4 next year. I wouldn't. To answer the questions about how Miles takes care of his reputation. Winning. When Miles won the NCG, his eccentricities were a favorable factor.

As to Crowton, in 2007 national pundits were amazed by his play calling diversity and multiple formations that confused defenses.

The answer is to go 10-2, or better, and win the bowl game. If we have a chance at the SEC CG, Miles perception will be better. I have been one that has defended the lack of offense only due to sloppy QB play due to youthfulness. We will NOT have that excuse next year. If Crowtons offense is not in the top four of the SEC next year, we need a change.

I'm basing that on a poll of TD.com on approval/disapproval of CLM. can't find the post anymore, maybe it was whacked. was 44% approve, 43% disapprove, 11% undecided.

A championship run is not necessary next year for the fans not to completely turn on Miles. I can't speak for everybody but I'd have been fine with our record this year if we had played better football. By better, I mean more disciplined, more consistent and playing with effort and intensity. The way we played this year (mostly) just sucked the life out of me. Too many people are only looking at the record. It's not about results; it's about performance. I know many here can't get their neurons around that but a lot of Tiger fans that I've talked to feel just like I do.

As far as winning back the fans, I just don't believe he can do it. After the Ole Miss debacle, just hard to see him in any other light. The Miles supporters shout, "well have you ever made a mistake on your job", Yes I have and not nearly as big as a mistake and I was demoted and cut in pay. I just believe that when a coach like Miles is paid the salary that he is, there is no excuse as to not having a backup plan in the Ole Miss game when he was not sure that the ball would make it all the way to the end zone, In sum, I would say he has a tough road to hoe to gain faith back from most Tiger fans.

More than 3 losses (2 SEC) next year and Miles is history...more losses would not be 'recovering'. Yes, he'll probably beat Bama and UF also. But so friggin' what if Arky and Ole Miss are losses. UNC or WV loss is livable but not both.
Miles earned the NC in '07 as much as any player did, also. Now he has a level playing field and the honeymoon is over. Half like him, half don't. Miles has to make it happen or be a footnote in LSU football. Should be fun to watch him work for a living.

How does one recover from 5-years of exhibited dysfunctionalism, chronic game day disorganization, poor game management especially during 2-minute drills, and weak game planning? Can the man instill discipline in any squad? Does he recognize poor assistant coaching prior to the obvious? If he could coach and manage the program better don't you think he would have long ago? What you see is what you are going to get from his teams, that is what drives many of us nuts.
