Skip is unique because he took a program that virtually no one cared about and brought it to cult status at LSU. He had the benefit of ZERO expectations. No subsequent coach in the major sports is going to have that benefit unless the program completely bottoms out (which is in part why Wade has so much support right now.)

Still, even Wade can quickly lose the backing of the fans. He had the first year honeymoon period that most new coaches get. Then, he fully capitalized on what was expected to be a big second year (until the suspension tarnished the season). His expectations will be lower in year 3. But if by year 4 the 18-19 season looks like a anomaly he will start to catch heat.

Skip never really had to deal with the pressure of absurd expectations. He had a great program in a sport that had little to no outside pressure to succeed. The nation as a whole didn't (and still doesn't) care how good a school was in college baseball.

Your memory is flawed.

There were fans calling on Skip to retire before he actually retired.

The old standby negatiger phrase "the game has passed him by" was repeated often.

repeated by who?

For the record, Fieldon K. Alexander tarnished the season by being a pussy and a poor leader. Let’s not talk like the suspension happened all by itself with no human error.

Outside of a few stragglers, Will Wade is pretty popular. That’s about as close to a consensus I’ve seen.

Don't think I've seen anyone badmouth DD Breaux but maybe I've missed it.

This goes for any fan base. There were Bama fans wanting to get rid of Saban after they lost to Clemson. Any fan base that has reached the peak will have resentment any time you don’t go back there.

She's about as liked as any coach I can remember. I don't see many threads complaining about her.

I'd say 95% of the fanbase supports Will Wade, with the remaining 5% being a segment of O pumpers who hate him due to jealousy and insecurity.

Showing your lack of logic again? One has absolutely nothing to do with the other.

Wade enjoys pretty broad support but until the cloud of suspicion totally lifts from him some will be more reserved. After that he has to sustain the success he enjoyed last year. We certainly weren't a dominant team when you look at all the close games but had a lot of grit and mental toughness.

No coach today enjoys total support. Florida fans used to bitch about Spurrier. Bama fans are sometimes critical of Saban. Calipari gets criticism also. It has never been any different.

Is BASED the same thing as WOKE?

I don’t understand these millennial terms. Google isn’t much

Perhaps your reading comprehension is poor. In the title the poster said "base" and later in the actual message he used the word "fanbase" which should clear up what he meant by "base" in the title.

Look at the support will wade is getting.

If we don't repeat as conference champ, this board will be ready to throw the bum out.
Remember last season when we lost our first game. Waters and Wade were both over rated, according to the experts.

The Anti Ree is at it again...

There might be 5 posters on this board that fit in this category. To say that this constitutes 5% of our fan base (aka thousands of people) is ridiculous.

Too many nerds and losers her that are only concerned about being right.

Yes, but only after they’re fired.
