he was pretty good for a sophomore in 2009...and then he regressed in a major way

Man, I am with you. Looks like they threw the game or ULL showed up in LSU uniforms. It was surreal.

I agree

i know man. and reading the quotes from some players... it's like there is so much confusion/hurt. they deserve to feel let down.

They were better on special teams. Their defense was better. Obviously the offense was better. There was more wrong then just Jefferson who was terrible. We put zero pressure on the qb. Our o line play was horrid. Our kick/punt coverage and return units were horrid. Coaching was non existent.

It was more than just Jefferson.

It was more than just Jefferson. But, when your QB plays that bad and you have a Sr. sitting there that led you to 8 wins earlier in the season how can you not give him a chance?
It was simply a coaching brain lock.
Miles did a great job this year until late in the season. Unless there is much more to the story than we know, Lee deserved/earned that chance this year.
The OL played poorly. But, the Play calling was terrible. Late in the year 1 of, if not the , most productive plays was a that little zone pitch play to Hilliard. I only recall us running it once and he got 6 yards.
And anyone who says those guys quit (and I'm talking about the players not miles) are idiots. I sat their and watched Mathieu fight like an animal on that 3rd or 4th Q punt return where it took half of bama's team to tackle him.
I watched that D strap it up over and over and over again trying to keep that game in reach, which it was.

This game comes down to execution and preparation, both of which bama schooled us.

He really did. I kept wondering during the first half what he would have to do to get benched. Then he threw the pitch/toss/whatever interception that looked like something out of a terrible movie. It reminded me of Bobby Boucher from the Waterboy tossing the ball to #62 just so he could hit him later.

I said to myself, "Surely, that will get him benched."

Then I saw him on the phone talking to the coaching staff upstairs, and I almost chuckled to myself thinking about what they could be talking about.

"Hey Jordan, don't softball toss the football to the opposing players."

"I'll see what I can do, coach."

"Try to look downfield some."

"frick you, coach."

I had very similar thoughts when I saw him on the phone. What could they possible be talking about?? Then I wondered if he was even on the phone with the coaches at all

JJ completed over 60% of his passes for 7.3 ypa and had almost 2200 yards...as a true sophomore. he threw 17 TDs with 7 picks

he was pretty good in 2009. i have no idea what happened

the 'pass rush was too significant' excuse for lee is so lame. do something to adjust the protection, get the ball out quicker.

This debate will end, because JJ left no room for anyone to defend him. Lee was All-SEC, and had the highest QB rating of any SEC QB.

Unlike Flynn/Russell, JJ will never have a draft pick, or a payday for anyone to ever argue that he was ever better than Lee

JJ is the worst starting QB in LSU history. No one will defend him. Not even Miles, at this point

yeah keep a TE in to block and run 3 man routes

don't try that wingback stuff where they end up leaving and going for 3 yard routes

You never watched enough football then. He wasn't the worst by far.
Now if you want to say at times he was THE WORST, I'll agree. Other times he was pretty good.

He was pretty bad and inconsistent more than he was good, IMO.

What's to debate?

JL was thrown to the wolves early in his career against a good Auburn D and never really recovered. When he finally did get a 2nd chance he made the most of it and was then benched.

JJ was a QB that peaked in HS. He finished his LSU career the way he started it - confused and full of mistakes. He is really dumb, for real.

In the first game, prior to the 2 interceptions, Lee"s stats were:

3/5 for 24 yards including at least one 1st down.
No worse than Jefferson's performance in the second game.

Yet probably true. It was in November.

Very good point. I thought about this well. Don't you think the coaches thought about this as well? What is Alabama's reaction to this move?

Well, we can still have a 20 page thread debating JR and MF, so I would say yes.
