I think he made the all Omaha team at shortstop that year ETA. He batted .538 in Omaha
Well there ya go… that’s how memorable he was … felt like he was 0-20 in regionals and supers before the ULL clincher
Those were darker years in my memory bank
Nevertheless, he ain’t top 3 all-time LSU

He will by some, it will be less so than Larson though because more people are exposed to Skenes and if Skenes dominates at the next level that will elevate him.
Larson probably only played the CWS games on tv. So you either had to go to a baseball game to see him or you only saw stats or heard on radio. There might have been one or two other games on tv in 97 outside of the CWS.
Everyone of Skenes starts has either been on a cable channel or at least been able to stream. Plus the ease of highlights now makes him more visible.

Skenes will be remembered as an LSU great because he is. More importantly, we're in the internet age and people get more recognition now. But it also depends on how much he appreciates playing for LSU and associates with LSU both during his time here and after. I feel like he's part of the team and likes being here.
I was overseas when Larson was playing so don't know him, but of course knew McDonald since we grew up in the same town. Skenes and Burrow embraced LSU and dominated while here. Simmons on the other hand, didn't and that's why many don't consider him LSU.

Bregman was good. really, freaking good here.
but let's be honest, when talking about hitting, he's not in that elite territory that some of our other legends are in.
He played 3 years here and isn't even in the top 10 all time in any career offensive category at LSU.
Furniss and Walker are in the top 10 in damn near every category there is.
Hits, walks, runs, HR, RBI, BA, Total Bases, etc.
Crews is in all of those minus hits (6 away ) RBI (2 away) and walks (1 away)
Hell, all 3 of those guys have at least one single season with more HR than Bregman hit in his entire career here.

I banged his ex gf while he was in the minors. That make me the GOAT?

To be fair to Bregman, he played in essentially a dead bat and ball era. The others played in an era with heated bats.

Juco guy… also let’s be honest he was roided out of his gord
This.
Brandon juiced. I loved him at LSU, it was a thrilling ride. Seemed if he made contact it went out of the park, but he was roided. Led to injuries and weight issues in the pros and eventually I think he stopped and lost a lot of his power.
But glad he came to LSU!
ETA:
And yes other players did too. It's a combination of things:
- 1 year guy from JUCO
- Fizzled post-LSU
- Big juicer
But I like the guy.

2010 and 2011 rattled PM for a long time. If I recall correctly 10 and 11 were peak dead ball and bay, then it got slowly better and now the bats are better and the ball is a bit juiced.

Walker stands out to me bc he came through in the clutch more than any hitter I've ever seen at LSU.

to be fair, Bregman used the same bats that his own teammates used, correct?
just like the other 3 used the same bats his teammates use.
List of Crews' teammates to out homer him in a season here.
Gavin Dugas
Tommy White
List of Todd Walker's teammates to out homer him in a season
never happened at LSU

this isn't a knock on Bregman either.
the dude was a stud.
but Crews and Todd Walker were just on a completely different level.

Crazy part is if Skenes doesn't transfer we don't see his talent in the majors for 6 more years if ever.

Mason Katz hit 33 in 3 years in the same era with the same coach.
