I think at minimum you have to make at least one change.
I can't imagine Ochinko being the hitting coach next season.

Martin is going out a hero - in baton rouge they would have hung him! best of luck to paul! there were ups & downs this year. hope the staff stays!

Martin even without a CWS title >>> Maineiri!

Expectations like them or not are what keep programs elite. They may back fire from time to time when they become too unrealistic, but over time I think it's better to take the risk than to become complacent and stagnate your program. I think Paul should absolutely get another year, but I'm not confident he will do any better than he has over the past 2 years.

To bring in a paid hitting coach, either Dunn or Cain will have to be told to seek other employment.

Personally, I think Dunn has run his course here, but if you fire him and keep Cain, then your pitching coach is also a volunteer assistant and you’re right back to Square One, only this time with the pitching staff. And Paul ain’t firing Cain.

I’m hoping Woodward meets with Paul and at least STRONGLY SUGGESTS that he completely cleans house. We shall see what happens.

Neither of those things should happen.

He has another year even after this frustrating season. Someone said he is the Les Miles of baseball and it is spot on.

I still can’t get over the ending to that game last night. And the base running...a Paul M staple.

Would you resign from a job that pays you a few million a year regardless of your performance?

Sure, and just like in football, Jon Gruden will jump at the chance to be our new coach.

OP doesn’t realize that CPM has more job security than any other baseball coach in the nation. Apparently because of the Matty 10 years ago.

What incentive does Paul have to listen to those "strong suggestions"? He's under contract at $1.25 million for the next 5 years. If I'm him I kindly tell Woodward to "let me handle my program OR pay me the over $6 million remaining on my contract"

You can complain all you want, but Paul holds all the leverage in this situation. He doesn't have to do shite right now and Wooward's only recourse is to eat the MASSIVE buyout (relative to college baseball).

Mainieri has a fully guaranteed contract with 5 years left on it at $1.125M per year, why would he resign?

Yeah I don't see myself giving away $6 million, nor should he. I could easily see myself going somewhere else for the same money, but only if the people around me had the same attitude as the rant.

CPM's last stop will be with LSU. No matter how many years from now that will be.

So Woodward doesn’t have to fire him.

The answer is a flat out NO! He won’t have any pressure to resign playing in Super’s even if we did lose!!!

The best comparison was the “Paul Mainieri = Les Mikes” you probably can’t come up with a better analogy! Only way PM gets fired is if there is a ground swell of support from the fans that want that to happen, and then some major boosters jump on board!

Basically what I am saying is PM, unfortunately in my mind, is here until he decides to retire!!! Which SUCKS!!!
