This was not LSU’s offense at all this year. They threw the ball plenty on first down and majority of the passing game was done out of shotgun. This is in no way defending the offense just fighting this narrative that this is the same old offense from Les/Cam. It’s different problems with a different look. The problem with the passing game was max protect instead of spread them out and make quick passes. LSU is running an older version of the spread which is a step up but they need to take another step. I also felt after the Georgia game they went away from using Burrow as a weapon to run until the A&M game. That may have been because of Brennan’s health but there was a couple of times against Bama where if they let Burrow keep he could have gotten some yards.

I don't know why anybody thinks that LSU might be looking at an OC for 2019. Especially if they think it might happen after a bowl game.

Right now is the silly season for coaches and this is when you are talking to potential coaches before they get grabbed by other schools. Coaches usually coach the bowl games after already signing up to another team.

If LSU was talking to any OC out there, it would be leaked or rumors would be swirling just like you've seen with Freeze. How many times have we seen a new OC or DC or HC announcement after the bowl games that were a complete shock because there were no rumors swirling. Rarely ever. Word gets out, planes are tracked, atheltic office people leak, etc.

The fact that we aren't hearing any rumors says that LSU isn't looking.

senior QB in his second year as a starter. That normally is a huge advantage for an offense

We lose 3 starters on offense (Moreau, Brossette, and Brumfeld). I thank them for their service and effort, but it is doubtful that any of them will be any better than a late round draft pick.

Emery and Davis bring a lot to the table at the RB position along with CEH and maybe Curry

WR position needs to learn how to catch the ball, but a lot of talent is returning. Two redshirts will be in the rotation and Palmer is very good

OL will only be replacing one starter and finally has sufficient numbers. Hopefully a couple of the OT prospects can step up and we quit playing with five OG

It appears the SE offense is dependent on a solid OL. Maybe some other OC out there could overcome that, but that is what we are looking at. If the OL is stronger and Burrow and the receivers build on things, I have a feeling the offense can be a strength moving forwar

You mean we are keeping the same players that has o sycophants shittingon offensive talent?

Link.

Only on obvious passing downs.

Far too many times our oc put burrow under center knowing good and well our line was shaky on long developing pass plays.
Our oc constantly put burrow under center to run playaction for a running game no one was worried about.

We still ran the ball out of traditional heavy sets way too many times.
We still had play calling with no rhyme or reason to them.
We never once changed the lauch point of the offense.

Or it could mean that they already have their guy. There have been some rumors though.

After next years bowl game if we are not greatly improved. I think with all the players coming back on offense we should be improved. Is it enough for us to complete for a playoff spot? I don't know but I am optimistic.

Coach O won't fire him, but I could see Steve stepping aside and playing a different role on the team. He was content being an assistant coach and didn't lobby for the promotion

That's the ONLY way I see there being a change. O isn't going to fire/demote Ensminger. Doing so would essentially be an acknowledgement that he (O) doesn't know what the frick he is doing. Remember, just last season O proudly said that Ensminger was the best OC he could find and that he regretted not naming him OC in the first place.

Remember what y'all all predicted about this year? Y'all were all wrong even though we lost many of our stengths.

Honestly, it’s up to Ensminger. If he wants to coach out his 2nd and final year of his contract, CEO will allow it. If Ensminger doesn’t, then lucky us and we will go on a search for a new OC. Sadly, this is how it will play out.

Predicted 10 wins.
We are still more talented than 90% of cfb programs and just as talented as any program not named bama.
Last year we tied for the 2nd most nfl draft picks and were #2 outright in the amount of nfl draft picks and UFA after the draft.

What’s crazy to me is LSU didn’t even have a paid QB coach.

this is wrong

from the website:
Steve Ensminger, a starting quarterback for LSU under legendary coach Charles McClendon, in the late 1970s, was elevated to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during the offseason

With just a half decent offense, we wouldn't have lost to A&M or Florida.

Good grief. Just stop. There is not going to be a new OC no matter how many times people start a thread about who they would like in the role

You sure about that??? Our idiot AD does his employee evaluation based off espn’s talking heads record predictions....

Reality is that even bringing in an unproven guy like Salisbury won’t mean anything. Has he even ever coached anything worth a damn? He’s basically a glorified analyst that want that great at even that.

There are significant issues on this staff, which will not help fix the problems and Os insistence on bringing in his buddies and yes men is not going to make it even a good offense.

Also, the whole point of Burrow was to not use the first year QB excuse and now O’s supporters are doing just that. I hope the offense is better next year but I don’t think the schedule will be as easy as many on here believe or hope it will be.

The Ed and Joe show seem content with conceding an automatic loss to Alabama every year and trying not to blow anymore Troy games. The only thing that really changed is we went from one unevolved coach to another, but didn’t change a blooming thing on offense. So depressing

We are not as deep and as talented on our OL and DL then most of the top 25 teams. LSU is just starting to add depth at LB and WR.

Some of you are delusional.

Depending on your souce, LSU is either the 5th best or 7th best recruiting team over the past 4-5 years. Orgeron appears likely to get LSU up a bit after this monster class.

LSU has had great talent for years. Why do they lose? Because their offense is some antiquated training wheels nonsense.

I pine for the Miles/Fisher offenses. WR middle screens, RB swing passes, slant patterns, crossing routes... you know, 1970's passing concepts that LSU no longer runs...!

You mean with a better OL, more experienced WRs, and better RBs right?

The only WR that is polished and experienced enough is Jefferson. The rest are very good but either not a true WR or they just aren't experienced enough. You add that to a still young and not so good OL and you get what we saw this year.

Steve E has said it over and over this year that they can't do everything they want to do simply bc we can't execute. If Steve E and this offensive staff don't progress this year then I say fire his arse but I honestly don't believe it was all him.

I did see some plays that would have broken the game wide open that just wasn't executed properly. I saw wide open WRs but not enough time to throw the ball. I saw RBs not cutting back to huge open lanes. I saw WRs, TEs, RBs and OLman all missing blocks. They need to work on finishing blocks and staying with the block for as long as you can. Finish that man in front of you and quit being a puss.

If you go back and look at some of those games, the effort out of our OL was pathetic. When the big play was dialed up LSU fell apart. That needs to be fixed. Lsu finally has decent depth at OT but they need to develop. Parker, Rosenthal, Wire, Charles, and Traore. Wire, Rosenthal and Parker will be very good players maybe even next year. For sure we can use them for depth next year.

We have depth at center and at Guard now. It's time that LSU brings in the elite DL and pass rushers every year. We need 4 to 5 elite guys every year. Top 20 or so guys every year. At least 3 and add some developing types for the 4th and 5th spots if that's all you can get. Even that would help get us to where we need to be in 3 or 4 years.

Depth isn't built in a year and LSU needs depth to make the playoffs consistently. I think we can make a run every 3 or 4 years at the rate we going but we aren't beating bama nor will we be there the next year if we don't land these guys every year. When you see LSU start to do that on the DL and OL every year is when you'll see LSU finally beat bama. You have to get quality QB play as well.

We still have a ways to go. Unless LSU closes out this year with 3 more bad arse DLman. Which could happen. That would get us started. The 2020 class looks great but it won't be shite unless we have some talent in front and behind them who can play. This staff can get it done.
